I actually just listened to it for the first time last week.  It is great, but that Don't Let Me Down is a tease!!!

Is there any way to rip the audio from that session?

I can't find a download anywhere
Sometimes when I get in my zone, you'd think I was stoned, but I never as they say, touched the stuf

I realize "What A Fool" was released earlier, but man, that song really does nothing for me. Am I the only one that thinks it kinda ruins the flow of this EP? The four Scott songs are all up there with the Dog's best, but "What A Fool" just feels like a retread of ground that Toby has covered many, many times in the past.

I can't really say that I dislike it, but it is probably my least favorite song on the EP and stands out as sort of a speed bump right smack in the middle.  I hadn't listen to it much to begin with when it came with the deluxe iTunes download.  There are many Toby songs I love, but it seems as though I tend to lean toward Scott's work more often.  Maybe its Scott's generally more upbeat/playful vibe?  At least that's what I get.

This EP is FANTASTIC!!!

Can't wait to see 'em bust out these tunes live. The Dog rockin' out "Be The Void" would be incredibly euphoric and epic -- great track!

need to get this.. they should open for MMJ in port chester.

Woooo! Only two more sleeps before I finally see my first Dr. Dog non-festival set. Looks like the setlists have been steadily improving...

I'd KILL to hear "Oh No!" Anything off Easy Beat will take me to a happy place. Also VERY glad they seem to be inching "How Long Must I Wait" into regular rotation.

Seeing them tomorrow night, cannot wait.  Forecastle was a huge teaser for sure, I'm really looking forward to seeing them in a nice, small venue.

Have a great time tonight robb! Their tour is winding down -- hoping they bust out some gems for us this weekend.

robb

i'm really hoping to get How Dare.

I have now seen a REAL Dr. Dog show, and my life will never be the same.

Their Forecastle set was a complete joke compared to the absolute thrashing they laid upon a few hundred people in Toronto last night. Over the last ten years, I've seen hundreds of shows, and (MMJ excepted) I don't think I've ever seen a band display such high amounts of energy on stage. It's like the Dog's manifesto is "we're gonna have fun whether you like it or not!" What an attitude!

The place was rockin' right from the beginning. Dudes headbanging, fist pumping, crowd surfing, it was just wild. At one point Toby motioned for a crowdsurfer to be surfed toward the stage. Toby grabbed the guy, pulled him on stage and sung a verse with him before violently (and hilariously) pushing him to get back in the crowd. A drunken stage dive followed and the dude was soon eating floor.

There was nary a lull in the show. Straight rock, rolled thru with serious force. As a band, the Dog is so incredibly underrated. I tend to enjoy Scott's material more, but no one can deny Toby's skills as a frontman. So much passion. All while pounding out those melodic, flowing basslines that no one seems to be playing anymore. Toby taking the lead vocals also opens up Scott and Frank to weave some awesome guitar parts. Man, neither Scott nor Frank gets the love they deserve as axe-men. I got lost in their jams several times throughout the show -- a sign of a SWEET show! I said this after the Forecastle set, but I find it hard not to watch Slick. The guy is such an effin' pro. He's flawless up there. Have no hesitation putting him in my top-five most captivating drummers I've ever seen live.

They played the Opera House last night, which is a venue I LOVE because the soundboard is elevated from the floor, so you can chill right beside the soundboard for awesome sound and a completely unobstructed view. And I don't think I'll ever rock anywhere else for future Dog shows -- the soundboard is the place to be. All those glorious harmonies, crystal clear. I have NEVER heard such wonderful, pitch-perfect, spot-on harmonies. Frank, Toby and Scott really are on another planet vocally. What a sound!

But all those skilled musicians and vocalists would be wasted without amazing songs -- which the Dog have in spades. The setlist was great and I was glad to see they busted out a couple favorites that for some reason aren't in every set -- "From", "Oh No" and "Mirror, Mirror" in particular.

MAN, I love this band. I'll shut up now.

I've been debating whether I want to go to the Nashville show in November. Reading this thread is really making me want to go.

I have to fully agree with robb on this one, Fully.

I went to the show expecting a good time and came home with an ear-to-ear grin. These guys aren't just fun -- they are a very, very skilled band. They are now on my "must go to a couple dates per tour" list.

robb, that looks like a damn sweet set on Friday. And you got to meet Scott, no less?! That's just awesome. Is he as down to earth as I think he'd be?

You said it best, Dr. Dog has joined MMJ and Deer Tick as bands that I HAVE to go see every time they swing through town.

And yeah, Scott was great.  Really laid back dude, we talked for a good 15 minutes or so.  I mentioned I was really bummed about Rock the Casbah being cut at Forecastle and he was like "How'd you hear about that?".  Said that I heard it talked about on the boat, and he seemed really envious of the experience--you could really tell that the guy has a ton of admiration for Jim/MMJ as a whole.

I thought it was a well established fact that many of us are, in fact, asshole! And I guess y'all settled the internal debate inside my head. I do always enjoy them when I see them. The only hesitation has been that I'll have to go alone and on a school night.

Going on a school night does indeed hinder one's let-loose-ability. However, I think a lot of us on here would agree that going alone is where it's at! It sure beats not going at all. Call me a selfish asshole, but I love being able to roam around as I please and just being able to do whatever the fuck I want without worrying about others.
