Why don't festivals happen after planting season?  :(   Does Arkansas really consider itself part of the midwest?
I'm pretty sure most people from Arkansas don't consider it part of the Midwest, but apparently the person who wrote up the copy on the website is among those who think the "Midwest" tag can be applied to anyplace west of the Appalachians and east of the Sierra Nevadas. Or maybe the regionalization stuck with them since Wakarusa used to be in Kansas (barely Midwest).

Uh oh, you touched on a sore spot from my Geography days. In my opinion, the "Midwest" is located within the somewhat boob-shaped area below:

SO according to your map that would make Florida the Grundle of the U.S.  ;D

You mean the Nacha? Actually, I think my map would define Florida as the Armpit of the U.S.  ;D

16 hour drive for me, aint happening.  But out of curiosity where would you fly into Little Rock?

blainesanders

This is awesome.  I live 45 minutes away in Fayetteville!!!!
Favorite band at easiest location!

The closest airport is Fort Smith, Arkansas (FSM)
and Bentonville, Arkansas (XNA)

Fort Smith is probably 30 minutes away, but most of the traffic enters from that direction.  XNA is about a little over an hour away, but the drive is nicer with less traffic.

blainesanders

Also, MOST of Arkansas considers itself the "south"

The Fayetteville area is a mix between the south, the midwest, and the ozarks. The ozarks being the preferred choice :-)

welp whos swingin through springtown to pick me up?

Delaware is the armpit because it stinks and is filthy.

Staten Island is America's dingleberry though.

I don't know where I'd put Arkansas, but I do know that adding "Ar" to another state's name doesn't make yours, no matter how poor your spelling is.

Yet to see the Jacket live and I live like 2 maybe 3 hours away. I'm SO going to this show. Ryan Bingham, Mumford and Sons and some others that I'd love to see are playing too. Now if I only knew the dates that MMJ is playing?

kydiddle

Crispy that boob cracks me up. I totally want to bite it.

You're going with ME, man! For the whole thing! Okies Unite!

Choder, you're estimation of Delaware as the Armpit is definitely more spatially correct than it is for Florida.

Woo, Dylan! We'll cook a steak!

Ky, you're not the only one wants to bite that boob. (You know you do too, Lady)

THIS IS ON THE LAST WEEKEND BEFORE MY HERBOLOGY CLASSES END, AND THERE'S NO CLASS SCHEDULED THAT WEEKEND  :o

Unfortunately, there's still a 12-hour drive to deal with from A-ville.... but I've always wanted to explore the Ozark Mts................. and my friend I'll be living with in A-ville is equally an outdoors enthusiast who shares my love for Thievery Corporation alsooooo and may possibly be talked into making the drive  :o

Thyme shall tellith.... how exciting that they're headlining!!!

wood,  thievery corp is the lure that may just get me to bite for this show! their set at bonnaroo last summer was an all out dance party.
...but i also have a mid-tolerance for the lazer-wookie population.  :D

still:  is this the first official mmj date of 2011?  *fanfare*

Ms. Y! TOTAL DANCE PARTY! I've got about the same tolerance as you, I think... Well, the band Wookiefoot is playing there too (and I actually dug those guys when I saw them in 2005, they were super tribal sounding and very un-electro-ish.... which might be why they are the foot of the wookie?) Ok now I'm just confusing things way too much!!  ???

ANYWHO! At least your foot won't be wookie'd anymore by then, and I'd love to groove down with ya!  8)  Thievery tore me up at Merriweather Post a couple years ago... I was actually there with the same friend I'll be padding with in A-ville! Not only dance party status, but friggin... oh man when you get all the special acts out playing the live instruments and singing and the bellydancing...... I've watched vids of that Roo and am for shame to not have been there... Hope I can talk my partner-in-crime into making the voyage!!  8) 8)

Forgive my ignorance, and my language, but what the fuck is a lazer wookie?
The fact that my heart's beating is all the proof you need.

Well I suppose a lazer wookie is a branch of wookie...  wookie is a term I usually find is someone not being respectful in one fashion or another... usually all hopped up (not in a good way, generally speaking...) I tend to loan the name to people who either steal, start the lame fights at shows, break open glowsticks and fling the liquid all over everyone standing around them, or (in my book) the littering nitrous balloon wanderers  :-X (and pardon me, but I must say I've found myself "lumping in" those who leave their campsites nearly irreparably trashed, generally with glowsticks, beer cans (both burnt and/or crushed), empty balloons, and sometimes needles  :-X) Keyword: disrespect  :-\
