Yeah man, from the little I've checked out, it's been a damn fine year for hip hop.

That CunninLynguists album is nice.

Straight throwback to early 90s NYC but I've been vibing on DC's The Other Guys.

Oh yeah, have any of you checked out Justin Vernon and Astronautalis' Jason Feathers album?  I'd been waiting on this one for a while.  The production by Vernon is awesome but the concept was too gimmicky with Astro's voice being tonally modified that he sounds nothing like himself.  Still pretty progressive stuff and an interesting listen.

late post but really digging the Oddisee album

I've been trying to really absorb the Dr. Yen Lo album from a few months ago. I've never heard anything like it. Dark, minimalist, cinematic production lays the foundation for Ka's mind-bending wordplay. Seems like a love it or hate it type of thing. I love it.

Dr Yen Lo is one of the bright spots in what has been kind of a weak year in my opinion. Another off beat album I like is the Billy Woods album.
