I saw them in September in Chicago, and they closed the show with "Don't Let Me Down"...I went a little nuts. Okay, a lot nuts. The band that opened Breathe Owl Breathe were these amazing kids from UP Michigan..download "Swimming" ;)

A great live gem of theirs is Union Blanket followed by a cover of Harry Nilsson's Jump into the Fire. I picked this up from The Steam Engine.

This version of Union Blanket has excellent energy compared to the studio version.

Today while I was writing, Menomena's Ghostship came up on the big playlist I've dedicated to the novel I'm working on. I've known this song for a long while but listening to it with headphones blew me away all over again.

I absolutely love the way they build their songs on loops, and I love this song's bass, whispery vocal harmonies and eerie piano subtlety. The whistling teakettle puts it over the top. I'm still bummed that they split up.
