Hello all,

This is my first post, but I've been a longtime fan of the band and reader of this board, and I definitely think this is one of the best fan communities I've ever come across.

So I've loved this girl for years and years, we've always been best friends, and have recently added, "benefits," to the equation when we see each other which is every couple of months.  I just spent a great weekend with her, and as usual, haven't been able to eat or sleep for days, and have been living in my memory of being in her arms.

This afternoon, I put on a mix that I have of my favorite songs from Tennessee Fire, At Dawn, and ISM, and holy shit, in my short 29 years, I've never found a better cure for a broken heart.  I honestly feel almost completely better.  I cried a little, and then, BOOM!  This band makes me feel so indescribably happy even in the depths of despair, there really are no words for it.  I'm going to bbq a nice piece of lamb that I've been saving, maybe hit the jacuzzi, and call my best friend.  Thank you MMJ!!!

Awesome 1st post.  I want to collect these.  They are so similar in a way, it's creepy cool.  Soak it in jjb!
I'm digging, digging deep in myself, but who needs a shovel when you have a little boy like mine.

THAT'S what I'M talkin' about!!!

Welcome jjb...welcome!

Is this supposed to read like an ee cummings poem?   8-)

I hate laptops with sensitive touch pads.  If you don't look up, you end up inserting in wierd places.  I hope you all got the gist though!

right on jjb!

for me it was mmj and solo road trips to clear my head and the occasional attempts of shitty renditions on my guitar lol.

my wife and i were seperated for 10 months and mmjs music was a big part of me not losing my mind.  the coolest part was seeing mmj live together shortly after we had reconciled.  this may sound gay but it was almost like the band held onto my heart for me and then at the show saw us together and was like dude your good to go now heres your heart back. (metaphoricaly speaking) **you can read my post about that show on "the best shows of 2008" thread if ya want**

so i totally feel ya bro

im a big music geek but imo no band compares to mmj period.  i love lots of bands but with MMJ its more of a kindred spirit kind of thing.

whos to say that the world can do it better...whos the world can do at all...

Wow, what a great first post!

I definitely think MMJ is great for nursing broken hearts (By My Car or Don Dante for me) or celebrating something new and wonderful (Touch me pt 2)! To all the Broken Hearts Club Members, it WILL get better..probably when you're not looking.. ;) ;)

but come on...there's nothing sexy about poop. Nothing.  -bbill

I recently came to the conclusion that "I'm tired of the talking...i know what you're about" and it felt great.  ;)
Because we're all in this together...

Going through one of the most horrible breakups of my life, MMJ literally saved my life. I know, I know, it sounds so cliché, and kinda silly.
But I was so struck by the absolute relevance and dead on accurate correlation between Nashville to Kentucky and my exact situation (or at least, I took it that way. I don't presume to know what the song is *really* about)   that I was completely bowled over and it made me realize that music is so amazing, that I couldn't just leave the world and never hear music again, and I was so amazed and struck dumb by how well this song fit.
The basic story goes : my girlfriend was cheating on me with a woman who lived in Kentucky. They talked for months and months, for hours and hours a day online and on the phone, but she tried to say they were just friends. Ha. My girlfriend was sent on a business trip to Nashville. She ended our relationship the day before she left on the trip. (we lived together) Almost as soon as she got to Nashville she drove up to Lexington KY to meet up with this woman, and I knew all about it.  It absolutely killed my heart.  While they were together during this business trip, I found MMJ and their song Nashville to Kentucky. It was too amazing, too coincidental for me to just ignore. The music, the lyrics, it was magic. I used to play the song every morning, really loudly, and then a few times more every few days or so. This went on for about 3 weeks while she was gone on her trip.  I wasn't so much really ready to kill myself over her, hell she was cheating on me for how long? But so much in my life was going wrong, and I was so overwhelmed with stress and pain that I didn't know what to do besides leave this world.
At first it was my anthem of lament and sadness, but eventually it became my song of survival.
So, it sounds like I'm a bit of a nut, but no breakup had ever hurt me like this one did. In fact, had it been legal we would have been married, so it was basically a divorce, and I went bonkers because it had gone on for so long, and I had been lied to in so many ways.  It really was a daily nightmare, for my heart.

Welcome Eco. So sorry about everything. That is so hard. I'm glad you came to a place where you can celebrate N2K! This is a good place to be- filled with great people. I take comfort in being here and the support I've got when I needed it, the laughs I've had and just learning all there is to learn from all these amazing people! Keep holding on.  ;)

Welcome EcoCrafty!  With a name like that I knew you must be in Portland (as am I)! I'm sure we'll see each other around. ;)
My jacket's gonna be cut slim and checked

EcoCrafty

Thank you for the warm welcome everyone!!
I love how many times I've been pegged for being a Portlander this week! I'm technically in Corvallis for the time being, but yes I grew up just a few miles outside of Portland, and hope to move back soon.
It's the only city besides Fairbanks AK that I cry about missing so danged much. I'm more than sad that I will not be making it to the MMJ show in Portland, but I hope to hear about it from some of ya'll!

I wanted to also note that  MMJ has collaborated with a talented yarn dyer to create a special MMJ colorway, and if anyone is interested in more information about it, please contact me and I can give you the details.
(this is by no means a sales pitch, I'm just passing along some awesome info about a MMJ yarn!)
