Anyone who finds this sight simply to get tickets by definition in my mind is a dedicated fan. Just because they don't hang out on the boards does not mean they are not dedicated.

I'd tend to agree with you, but I can also understand folks here being a bit protective of this site, and those who frequent it.
Yah, two sides to anything. But if you are a real fan and not a poster that is not a negative thing.

Totally agree with you on that. I know quite a few real fans who don't ever come here, and some who just lurk, and very rarely post.

Okay, I admit it.  I came upon this message board because I was interested in tickets.  The fact is, however, I am a dedicated fan and love MMJ enough to have signed up for their mailing list, like them on facebook for updates, get presale information and sign on for MMJ presale, search out TM presale codes, try to help other fans with the TM presale, fight my way for tickets using any means possible NOT to mention purchasing their albums, downloading free tracks made available (thanks MMJ), and buy side project albums (Monsters of Folk is a GREAT album).

My Morning Jacket is just one of MANY bands I enjoy and get involved with.  There is so much music out ther, I can't hang onto every message board all the time.  But when it is time for tickets, you will be more likely to see me hanging around.  That is all, sorry for being wordy.

I apologize for being absurd but it sucks when this place is overrun with new members ???right when the band starts ticket sales made exclusively for dedicated fans :-\

what a joke, get over yourself.

i first saw this band in 2001 and have seen them over 30 x since.

and someone who heard them for the first time yesterday deserves just as much of a chance as me to get see live this summer.

You are exactly the type of fan I was referring to. You deserve any inside info this little "club" has. You are a brother in spirit with everyone here, you just don't feel the need need to blog about it.

I don't think anyone is claiming to be a "better" fan than anyone else.  I hope all the folks who dropped in just to get presale passwords stick around and contribute to the community here, just because it's a really fun place and you'll meet some great people on here (I promise!).  It's just that this happens every time tickets go on sale - folks drop in looking for info and then disappear.

Of course the info is out there for anyone to have, and I hope you all had good luck with tickets.  But although I'm sure it sounds greedy, I want my friends to get a crack at tickets before folks I don't know.
if it falls apart or makes us millionaires

I don't even remember why I originally joined this site. I haven't posted much, but I do read a lot on here and it's great reading reviews of shows and finding out new stuff about the band! The people here all seem really cool too, perhaps I'll start posting more now haha.

Sorry chief, just ranting a little like everyone is guilty of doing once in awhile.
The time is near, to come forward with whatever killed your spark.
