My Morning Tube top

The show at the Greek 10/5/11 was great! I still missed two drummers on stage, Russo is awesome but after being spoiled with two it seems so mellow. Great to scream "test me test me why don't you arrest" me during Bertha. It was great to see a younger generation who most likely never got the chance to see Jerry, singing every word to every song. I was personally hoping for Looks like Rain, Box of Rain, or Cold, Rain & snow as the show was almost a wet one in LA. The first rain in many months.

Overall good show! The next night blew the roof off that... Trombone Shorty at the EL Rey.
I highly recommend him to any of you who have not seen him. A true prodigy out of New Orleans. He and his band all have to be about 25 and under and incredibly talented. The blew away the crowd and all switched out instruments on the last tune, just because they could!

Glad you enjoyed the show. I'll be seeing them next month at MSG, and in A.C. Looking forward to getting back to NYC, and then dancin' down the Boardwalk!    ;)

Hey Jen!  Glad you caught some great shows!!  I was at a Dark Star show a few years ago at a festival, and the darkest broodiest clouds were threatening to unload on us..... and Dark Star goes into I Know You Rider, and the vibe of the whole crowd really amped up during the March winds blowing all your troubles away, and it was like we just pushed the clouds right outta the way!!!  Love weather-themed shows  :)

First Show:

8th Grade.

An older friend took me out to Brendon Byrne.  April '83. Total sensory over-load, and then, out of space, some guy joins the boys on stage. I turned to a grizzled vetern next to me asking "who is that?" to which he replied, "well, if my eyes dont deceive me that is one Steven Stills, and I cant fucking beleive it."

Saw allot of firsts that night. What were my parents thinking?

(Note: My 2nd show was 6 months later at MSG, where they broke out St. Stephen for the first time in years - the significance of which was lost on that 14 year old me. All I knew was that the place was going nuts! Oh to go back and do those things again.)

Am I alone in thinking that MMJ's "Phone Went West" sounds like a perfect JGB song? I can just hear the Fat Man singing "Ther'll be a knock on your back door.... ther'll be a knock on your back doooooooor"......with that light reggae kinda beat reaching a crescendo.

I cant help but wonder what Jerry would have thought of MMJ.

I think you might be on to something there. Might just be another reason why I love PWW so much.  ;)

Good call, it has that 'Stop that Train' sound that Jerry and John K did so well.

That would be something.  Maybe Jerry and Merle Saunders are covering PWW in rockstar heaven.

That would be the Furthur show Stagger.  ;)

I'll be there too, as well as MSG on Thursday.

The Furthur show last night was tons of fun. Knowing the size of the venues they've been playing, I was a little worried MSG would be 1/2 empty. After all these years, I should've known better! Place was packed, and really good to see them get the support they deserve, imo.

1st set was blazing hot. Pedal to the metal. A non stop get your groove on, dance your way to bliss, no holds barred, ass kicker.

The 4-pack of Ramble on Rose,Tenn.Jed>UJB>Eyes, was note perfect, and man did that take me back to many a fun show at the big building. ;) The band was tight as hell, and white hot. Loved it! Box Of Rain to close the set left me not wanting a set break.

Set 2 started out great, but was dominated in my mind by St. Stephen. An "are you kidding me", "holy shit" moment for my friends and I. The rest of the set was just icing on the cake for me after that. Although Unbroken Chain was a nice cherry on top!

Really enjoyed them having Larry Campbell join them for a good portion of the show. A 3rd guitar, and some violin in all the right places was a great touch. His wife adding some great vocals was pretty damn good too. Great pipes on the Hot Tuna - Keep Your Lamps Trimmed and Burning. Loved it.

Fire> Sunshine Daydream really closed the 2nd set out on a rockin high, and Attics for the encore, while a slower tune than I would have liked, was perfection! It was really cool to see and hear those great harmonies, with the band showing how tight they are in all phases, and on top of their game, imo.

Can't wait for Saturday night in Atlantic City!! Dancin'down the Boardwalk with an ocean breeze, feeling fine, is gonna be a blast. ;)

And to celebrate this 11/11/11 day, I'm listening to lots of versions of The Eleven, with the Live/Dead version being one of my favorites (William Tell>The Eleven is so fun!) (but I can't find a vid for that version on here)
