I was just clarifying that I wasn't coming here looking for a handout haha.

You weren't being a dick at all, it's all good  8)

Haha, I feel like I just spent $40 for just one song. Haha, totally worth it.  ;D

This reminds me of the outtakes from the Blues for Allah Grateful Dead album...golly I hope this turns up live!
Great call, definitely some traces of the Dead in there

felt that too
Feeling a space moment here in my hypnosis spiral  ;D

Very Grateful Dead. Nice sidetrack track, but clearly not any direction I would like to see take any kind of hold for them. I much prefer Jim's vocals and melodies.

mgriff73

It reminds me of a jam from the beatie boys check your head album.

Yes.  It's been bugging me, but I think you've nailed it.
The trouble with the straight and the narrow is it's so thin, I keep sliding off to the side

Sounds very chill...now there will be a mellow time to smoke during shows.

Did anybody see the image in the "Get Info" on iTunes? It looks like a guini pig behind a piece of glass, and on the glass it says "BREAK GLASS."  ???

I'm not here asking for it, I was just curious.

And I would join the fan club, but I'm a bit strapped for cash haha.

That album art should be on your iTunes/iPhone/iPod if you're an apple person.

interesting:
"My Morning Jacket would like to welcome all those who join the new MMJ Roll Call fan club into their much talked about and highly controversial "Self-Hypnosis Series" as well. The Self-Hypnosis Series will begin an exploration into the core of each individual heart, mind, body, and soul that joins the Roll Call fan club. Based on a desire to help each individual fan reach a state of emotional bliss, a new algorithm was recently developed at Removador HQ. It can sense listeners temperature and emotional climate at the time of listening-thru any listening device, be it speakers or headphones, and cater a listening experience truly unique for each listener. MMJ will carefully handcraft and carve pieces of music that will provide a vehicle for the listener to enter a new gateway of self exploration and understanding based on their current state of mind at the time of each listen. The Self-Hypnosis Series will start with a piece entitled "Octoplasm" which will be available via download immediately upon joining Roll Call. New titles in the Self-Hypnosis series will appear randomly, or on a strict schedule and will be available only to Roll Call members. We hope you are to enjoy!"

pretty hilarious.

Octoplasm sounds like a funky improv to me.  it's alright, circuital, however is pretty fantastic.  bo's key melody that kicks it and the way the acoustic is mixed is two of my favorite parts of it.  I hope Octoplasm opens up the door for them to jam a little more at shows.  spontaneity is a good thing.

ps, the old hippies are going to love this shit at bonnaroo.  the tone at times reminds me of jerry a little bit.

Honestly, this track got me more excited for the future of MMJ than Circuital.  Wow.  I've never heard this sound from the boys (or really anyone for that matter).  Sort of a synthesis of Blues For Allah Dead and funk from an alternate universe. Can't wait for more of these incredible jams from Self Hypnosis...
^THIS.

Maybe I am missing something, but to me it sounded more like the Dead than MMJ.

I agree it does sound like the grateful dead. specifically jerry garcia's guitar tone.  It sounds like my morning jacket paying tribute to the grateful dead sort of in the tone sense.  overall I still think it's just sort of an improv jam with some loops and overdubs no matter who it sounds like.  it's kinda boring, would be more fun live.

i had the same question, then found the link in my e-mail. it's part of the receipt for your purchase.....says, "instant download."

Seeker

I thought the "Instant Preorder Download" was for the whole CD on May 31. It's a zip file (for only one song?) which I don't have the software to unzip.
