Got a question for you guys:
I'm trying to convince my lady that Wilco will be her second favorite modern band, and she's trying to convince me the same of Radiohead. What is your favorite song for a mix - and why? Im still in my discovery phase myself, and just keep saying "Yankee hotel foxtrot is perfect". I want to make a mix, but don't feel I'm entitled to do so because I don't even own Wilco (the album) or Sky Blue Sky.  I find if there is a reason why it's awesome, a small musical detail or lyric, it's easier to jump into. For example, if I was to tell someone to listen to jacket I could say "listen to dondante - because when the "you had me worried" part kicks in, it's amazing.

Also, if you like Radiohead, head to that thread for the same post :)

How about the part in the song Ashes Of American Flags from the DVD of the same name when Tweedy sings "I wonder why we listen to poets when nobody gives a fuck?"  I love a good, well-placed f-bomb in a good song!  Nels Cline's solo on this version is, well, fucking incredible!  ;D

Funny I did the same thing today.  I was staring at it at the record store two weeks ago and I couldn't pull the trigger on $60+tax.  But $51.60 total today was nice!

Haha! Everytime I go into my record store in Philly I pick it up, think about it, then put it back.

Limited to as many as they can sell!  Although I do love my box as it has signatures from all 6 guys...

Got excited for 40% off the vinyl until the shipping costs came to more than the actual records.  :-\
At my house, we call them uh-ohs.

ALady

I think mine's still in the plastic.   ;D. Guess I might as well unwrap it now, definitely not gonna be a collectors' item.

Thanks Johnny!

One Sunday Morning is definitely my favorite slower ballad-y Wilco track maybe ever.

I agree Ruckus, Art of Almost is just a fantastic track! Great version on this performance.

You did well young man.  Just listened to the wilco speak into the rose ep and it is quite tasty.  Record store has definitely become one of my favorite days of the year.  (ok - if you recognize that you have a problem does that mean it's ok?)

There's a TON on ebay.

Was fortunate enough to be a the Metro show.  Nels ripped it up on the Ashes solo.  Unfortnately, I wasn't in the best spot sound-wise, but it was great to hear some of the rarities that I'm sure I'll never hear live again.  What an amazing band of individuals and as a collective.
