I think this album will probably bring the most live staples out of any album other than maybe z.

Plain and simple I have never really  been compelled to express an opinion on the forum before and yesterday I did. What I expressed was an opinion which was given after a good half dozen plays of the album that I have waited so long to listen to.
Again if the band want to take another direction then that is their business but the anticipation of waiting for this and the build up through the media with a reported return to their roots left me feeling a little let down.
First two tracks are great but after that very average. Actually now it is play the first two tracks then eject  and play something else.
I dont know if many people know that on the website Internet Archive there are some fab MMJ concerts free to download including new years eve at Madison Square Garden. Download the mp3 direct to your phone.
Express yourself. Oooh.

My personal opinion which I stated when EU leaked,  I will try to be nicer this time  ;).

I think it's disingenuous to the band ( that your a HUGE fan of ) to give a negative view of it before the the official release.  We don't want to discourage people from BUYING it do we ?

Steve H. Welcome to the board.  I hope you enjoy it more after you buy it. It may grow on you.

I really don't see a big deal with people giving their review a little early...you are going to see official reviews before the album is out on the 31st anyway...so what is the difference?  that is how the music business works these days like it or not.  Bands take chances...if all the reviews were 100% positive up till now nobody would really care and the band would benefit.  Leaks are not always accidental...like someone said earlier..if they really wanted to keep it under wraps they would have.

I guess I'm not hip to the biz anymore.

some folks who've heard all of YWFO say there is some quality guitar/pedal steel heroics on display at the end.  it could be pretty awesome

The person I know who's heard YWFO in total says it's her favorite song on the album, for what it's worth.

I hate all the comparisons of this or that to other bands/songs, but...

YWFO is the Paul McCartney song.  You know who else evokes McCartney in my mind when I hear him?  Carl.  All Birds Say.

Victory Dance is CSNY vocally at the beginning and near the end, heavy Carl and Bo contribution, I'm guessing.

The Day is Coming is Hall and Oates, but in a very good way.

Outta My System is The Beach Boys.
The fact that my heart's beating is all the proof you need.

So I listened to Victory dance.

Fuck you all.

Hard.

So very hard.

Even if the rest of the songs are different versions of Rebecca Black's Friday, this is one of the greatest albums I've heard in a long, long time just based on Victory Dance, Circuital, Wonderful (live) and Black Metal.

One of hte greatest opening tracks ever made. It's like they somehow took the power of strangulation and the build up of At Dawn and made a demon baby

For those who are just curious to hear one new song take a bong hit, put on good headphones, turn it up and get your mind blown.

This song might have shot straight up to my top 5 jacket tunes. I feel like I am an Apache Indian fighting for my life being chased by evil spirits and rabid afghani goats. The lyrics are amazing. And just when it couldn't get much greater.....

I love the album. And I love that YWFO isn't complete. Makes me really look forward to the 31st when I can download from my pre-order.

6 or 7 of the 10 songs on this album are gonna be pretty f'ing sweet live. And there's room to extend a jam for those who go for that sort of thing in most of the songs. The totally varied sounds (especially the Brian Wilson sound on Out of My System) made me think that Jacket is probably the best band who could pull of an album of cuts with each track sounding or being influenced by a different decade of the 20th century (track one 1900-1910, Track 2 1910-1920, Track 3 20-30 and so on) There's some 60's and 70's soul and pop in this album that is totally sweet. And while it's not the epic jam record ISM and parts of Z are it's totally great, at least in my book. Loving it more every single time. I've found myself humming nearly every single tune at different times the last couple of days. Looking forward to the webcast and to Red Rocks in August!

I thought the same thing...but those two keep growing on me, especially Moving Away...give them some time

bakerfall

The end of YWFO is the best part of the song and it's in my top 5 of the album.  It is not 11 min long though, 3:20 :)

I really like this album, it's a solid 7-7.5/10.  I think it's severely missing a big rocker though.    My initial reaction was it never hits the highs of EU though, despite being better.  I still feel this way, the best parts of EU are better than anything on Circuital.  But there is nothing on here that is as bad as the worst parts of EU.

All in all, I just want to see this shit live to see what happens to it.

i love love the last two and i love that they are together  i've listened to the album 6 times and liked it on the 1st listen and loved it on the 2nd listen. i gave another listen this morning during my subway commute and yeah .. i really really love the album. i could wax poetically about it but i'll just leave it at that. i love this band and the direction(s) they are going. they continue to grow, their influences are rich, and this album feels very "present". HELLZ YEAH !!!
