has anyone gotten an email about the soundcheck pre-party yet? i managed to get two passes for that, but i still have no idea when it starts. trying to figure out when i need to leave tommorrow. any help would be appreciated.

It took me a week to hear from Roll Call. I emailed twice with my confirmation number, because I was in the same boat -- I never received a confirmation email. I finally got it yesterday.

The email says 5:30, but a friend who also has tickets said to be at will call at 4:00. If you don't have a confirmation email, bring any supporting information you have to show you bought tickets.

i dont know why the doors open so early. the show probably won't even start until 7/7:30. 5:30 doors are an hr too early and an hour more that we could tailgate.

merriweather does have a strict sound ordinance rule at 11pm.

VERY strict about sound ordinance.  At MPP last year Jim said, "We wish we could keep playing for you forever but they've got a fucking curfew and they're kicking us offstage".  ;D

I think one of the boys mentioned that MPP was one of their favorite shows to play at last year so here's hoping they bring the heat again this time!

yes, and i'm assuming they are starting the show a bit earlier this year to make up for the sound ordinance. that could be the reason for the gates opening so early. last year they started at 9. maybe 8-8:30 this year?

Turns out the show is one of my MMJ highlights and the shorter set wasn't even noticed.   Fond fond memories!   My lesson from that incident is don't sweat the small stuff.

speaking of the pit, I was only in the pav for last years show. how early do you have to get in line to get a decent spot? Or were there even that many people in line last year? Im obviously not trying for rail or anything, but dont want to be in the back either.

youll want to get there at a decent time. i was at the gate probably around 430 and there was a good group of people there. and this is why i hate that the doors open at 530.

We've really mastered our craft of tailgating since then.  I love line parties. 

I can't believe this roll call list is still growing---so so awesome.  May it help others who are considering to bite the bullet.

Can anyone who waited in line last year give some first hand intel on this? how many were in line, how many wandered in shortly after doors open, etc. I cant imagine more than a quarter of the pit being full by like 630 or so, as I think I remember people saying last year the pit holds 1000+

We lined up, jogged to the pit and when I looked back to see how many people came in that early, it wasn't even 1/4 of the way full. Maybe 3-4 people deep along the front rail. It also wasn't jammed tight in the pit either....room to move.

last year the opener was at 8 and MMJ was 9.  11 pm curfew.

We left JD Bartender's tailgate around 6:45 and got to venue at 7.   Doors had opened at 6:30 and our thinking was to let the line work itself out.   It worked well as we walked right in and into the pit, which was about 3 deep at that point.    I was pleased as punch that we hadn't left any earlier, and in fact my friend Sean pointed out at 7:30 that if we had arrived then we wouldn't have been much further back.    So my observation for what its worth was that there was a hardcore faithful getting there early, than a lull for a while.   By the time BHJB came on at 8, it was crowded... and a final beer run at 8:30 proved very difficult.
