I was a little disappointed in the sound and then I get on here and see a bunch of reviews praising the sound.  Did a little research, and it looks like I might literally have some issues going on with my ears.  By about the middle of the show I was hearing a great deal of static and it was hard to pick out instruments.  I would also hear static when the crowd roared.  If I can no longer go to loud concerts without having the static issues, I will be gutted. :'(

Also had some drunk idiots around me that ruined the show for several.  Dropped a full draft beer on my foot and kept messing with a couple in front of me, nearly starting a fight on several occasions.

Other than that, Delta Spirit and the first part of the MMJ show before my hearing issues started were fantastic.
I didn't notice the static but I noticed a few times guitars weren't at the proper volume especially during solos where it was easily noticeable.

I would give the sound above average marks, but it was too loud and less than stellar sound board work. Sound board being more of a catch all phrase in this context.

Maybe I'm getting old but at the volume level last night sounds and instruments start to wash out, and I think they over baked the volume to the detriment of sound quality. Maybe that's just me.

I was right of the stage and it was fine other than the glitches with the black hollow body of Jim's and one or 2 times where the guitar solo was a little low in the mix than was corrected. No static for us thankfully.

I'm pretty sure the static part was just my ears.  I had it happen at a Spoon show last year also when I was right by a speaker.  I think when the overall volume is really loud my ears only last for so long before the static starts kicking in.  Even the crowd cheering was static-y.  It's similar to tinnitus (ear ringing).  Not sure why it happens to me, but now I think I'll start the shows with earplugs and hopefully make it all the way through.  I do agree with Rufus though, master volume was too loud.  Delta Spirit, for example, had a nice loud set, but you could still hear all the instruments clearly.  Not the same for me with MMJ.

Did anyone record this show? Been looking for awhile and haven't been able to find it. I did however catch a drumstick which I am more than pleased with

I don't remember seeing any rigging. I think it was posted no recordings for that show but I may be confusing that with a different show.

thats weird. must be fan made
No, its from the photographer.  There were two made.  He claims the sale price is the cost.  Check out the samples.  Its 64 pages total.  If I had money and went to that show, I'd consider it.

Yeah it actually looks really cool, unfortunately I can't spend 130 bucks on a book.

I agree 100%

mjk73

And why the hell is a fanmade photobook $130? Seems kinda skeevy

johnnYYac

Apparently, someone can.  SOLD!

Congrats!  If I was at that show, I'd pay $1/page for that book.

Re: the poster, I haven't seen it anywhere, but there's a link to the artist, David Perillo.  Click the poster to get there...

If I remember, they sold out of the posters at the show. They only printed like 130ish

LUJAC

they sold out pre-show...the doors to the merch area opened before the doors to the actual venue...kind of different.  I met Jim and Tom after the show and got a photo and a ticket autographed so wanted the poster to go with it.  The book and a radical signed ticket stub bookmark will have to do!!!!

Nice!  For the record, I don't mind outing myself as splurging the other book.   I absolutely love it and agree that spending $130 on a book is borderline foolish, but the pics are great and it is super high quality.   It wasn't the show I saw but it looks so similar in stage setup that it'll give me good memories forever, way better than the phone pics I snapped.

As to the price difference, mine was 11.5 x 14 and these are smaller.   The producer is a cool guy and I've struck up a conversation with him.   To call these "fanmade" is a bit under-representing.... the guy is a professional photographer and this is a portfolio he put together to show off his work.   He only made 2 of the larger ones, one for him and one I bought.   He made 5 of the smaller ones so expect more to pop up on ebay over time.

As to the price, I showed to a friend of mine who's a photographer because I wanted his take on whether it was reasonable.   His response was that the sellers claim that he's basically selling at cost is accurate - it is very expensive to make large size super high-quality color pics, and $2/page or $1/page for the smaller is not unreasonable.

Good luck w/ the poster - I will keep my eyes ears open.   There were 3 on this tour that were a bitch to find, and st L was one of them.

Johnny Yac- open invite to check it out next time you're around.
