The fact that my heart's beating is all the proof you need.

Got the album. Listening to it. Dig it.

Everyone claiming a Beach Boys vibe is wrong. The correct "sounds like" is >>

Brian Wilson's -Smile (with Van Dyke Parks)

I'm definitely digging this album, gotta listen to it a couple more times to get the full effect. I already knew I liked Circuital, Wonderful, and Holdin On To Black Metal, but I think my favorite tune is The Day is Coming. Only complaint is there's not enough guitar solos but I'm sure the shows will take care of that. Great way to kick off the summer!

My Google alert gave me this (lame) review:

http://www.411mania.com/music/album_reviews/188033
Another odd review: http://www.dailybruin.com/index.php/article/2011/05/_sound_bite_my_morning_jacket_

Disturbed?!?!? I was infinitely more disturbed by reading this article than I am by listening to the album. This author is an idiot.
Homer no function beer well without.

The actual Sputnikmusic review http://www.sputnikmusic.com/review/43625/My-Morning-Jacket-Circuital/

The review is quite negative. Although they like the strong opening 1 2 punch of VD and the tt they trashed outta my system and Holding on to black Metal. They're pretty ignorant though because they said outta my system feels like it was written for another album. Well thats probably because it was.

How would being right about Outta My system make them ignorant? It would make them correct regardless of what their opinion of the cd as a whole is.

They also reviewed the lower-quality, incomplete leaked version of the album... ::)

Oh, and it's not a children's choir on HOTBM...

I'm thinking Mike + The Mechanics in many parts.

I hear the Beach Boys, too. I consider that a good thing. Can't understand why so many seem to think that's a negative.

This same guy gave Britney Spears new album a 3.5 rating. Enough said. I'm really digging the new album and like everything else from MMJ the more you listen to it the more I like it.

well i guess they're right about first light.

The problem with the over abundance of access to music these days is that everyone is a snob and expects lyrical masterpieces from everything. It's passive perfectionism if you ask me.

I don't see it any more/less vapid than most VU songs:

Who Loves the Sun
Who loves the sun
Who cares that it makes plants grow
Who cares what it does
Since you broke my heart
Who loves the wind
Who cares that it makes breezes
Who cares what it does
Since you broke my heart
Pa Pa Pa Pa
Who loves the sun
Pa Pa Pa Pa
Who loves the sun
Pa Pa Pa Pa
Not everyone
Pa Pa Pa Pa
Who loves the sun
Who loves the rain
Who cares that it makes flowers
Who cares that it makes showers
Since you broke my heart
Who loves the sun
Who cares that it is shining
Who cares what it does
Since you broke my heart
Pa Pa Pa Pa
Who loves the sun
Pa Pa Pa Pa
Who loves the sun
Pa Pa Pa Pa
Not everyone

Who loves the sun
