I have lived in ATL for around 3 years now but i have never been to this venue.  I hear that its incredible.  I was in between getting pit tickets or reserved but i went with reserved section 102 row C.  I kinda wish i went with pit tickets now but im wondering if anyone knows how close the reserve section is to the stage?  I'm just trying to figure out how big the pit is and if i fucked up getting reserved seating.  the closer i dance the victory dance the better!!

Here's a picture that should give you an idea of the pit size, and how close the reserved seats are to the stage.

You can just about see the front of the stage  on the left of the pic.

Nice! That's the best picture of the pit i've seen, and it seems pretty darn big from that view. Looks I'll be lining up early!

I just hope me and my elbows have room to 'spress ourselves.

I think your elbows will have plenty of room.  They do a good job there of only letting people with pits into the pit. No crashers or stubbing friends down.

The pit there even has their own beer concession along both side walls, so you don't even have far to go to quench your thirst.

also, i have always hated this venue....although i dislike most big venues.

Are you sure you're not thinking of Lakewood? This Amp is pretty new and far from a big venue, imo.

It only holds 12,000, which is kind of on the small side for Amps. Next to the St. Augustine,Fl. Amp, Alpharetta is the smallest one I've ever been to.

You are right...I'm thinking Lakewood.  This venue looks a lot better.

I got pit tickets as well!  This venue is awesome!  The lot scene for Phish last summer was crazy and security let people have fun.  Same thing inside the venue.  The people were so nice and they have a lot of places to buy beer so you never have to wait long.  Moe's even has a food tent inside the venue so you can get tasty burritos!  I was up front for Phish and the pit is bigger than it appears.

Damn, you guys got me super excited, not that i wasnt already.  Scored two pit tix today form the public onsale. I was nervous I was gonna get shut out. And after seeing pix of the venue, I'm very surprised that I wasnt. see yall in Aug 8)

Ditto Megalicious!!! Looking forward to meeting you and leaving the planet for awhile. This really is shaping up to be the greatest summer in decades.... if not of all time. Thank God for MMJ. They saved my musical soul from cheesy, autotuned, Glee inspired, POP radio. For that, I could never thank them enough. BRING ON ALPHARETTA!
Why does my mind blow to bits everytime they play that song?

verizon is  my favorite venue in atlanta, besides the tabernacle, but is anyone going to wakarusa from the ATL area? cant wait to hear them again!

grizzy

Got pit tickets and coming up all the way from Tampa. Figure if they add a Florida show it will just be a bonus.

Looking at the calander I see they play a bunch of shows the week leading up to Alpharetta...hope his voice isn't too shot.

:D :D :D...can't wait!

13 shows of the 2006 tour for Pearl Jam??  I am freaking jealous!  I loved MMJ far before they opened for PJ and was a huge PJ fan for several years before that tour so I knew their stuff well before they toured together.  I saw MMJ open for PJ in Detriot in '06 and it was one of the greatest nights of my life.  Have you seen a purely MMJ show before?  They rock hard for a long time and when opening for PJ, they only had so long to perform so it wasn't the full experience.

As far as the setlist goes, it seems to be sort of repetitive at this point in the tour.  That doesnt mean they won't change it up later down the road.  They are probably just getting used to incorporating the new stuff with the old and experimenting with the kickass backstage setup that have.  So I think you'll be in store for some repeating but overall they will change it up a bit.

Did you boys & girls see the setlist last night:

I'd take it right now for our show!

Is pit seating separate from GA orchestra seating?

You guys are going to have a blast!

I just got back from seeing two nights of Phish there last week, and that venue rocked. It even survived some really intense storms on night 2.

So wish I could join you, but it doesn't appear to be in the cards for me with the other MMJ shows I have coming up.

Still keeping my fingers crossed though.

Enjoy.

At least I think so, this is my section "ORCHGA."  Am I correct? Thanks.

Yes, that's a "pit" ticket.

I think the pit for this show is going to be amazing. We has pit tix for Phish last week, and even though both shows were sold out, we still had plenty of room in the pit. We managed to walk in around 7:00 - 7:15 each night, hang in the back of the pit for a bit, and move up to about 10 feet from the rail stage right about 15 minutes before show time.  8)

The only negative for me was unlike last year, the pit didn't have it's own beer concessions. I had to walk a whole extra minute or two to get a drink! ;)
