Question for anyone out there about warped vinyl. At this time I have no turntable to play my green vinyl, or my other 500 records. My greenies look OK, but my question is, do you have to play them to see or hear the warp, or is it detectable by just holding and looking?

thanks.  I'm wondering the exact same thing.  Trying to find someone local with ability to test for me.   Figured if I have a bad one, better figure it out now, not 3 years from now when I finally get a turntable.

If you lay the vinyl out on a flat surface (ie, table top), it should be pretty easy to tell if it is warped.  If it looks relatively flat, you are probably good.  If one side seems to have a little 1/2 inch curve upward and does not appear to be flat, there's your warp.
was some shakin' and some record playin'

Well, there is clearly not a half inch warp. You don't need to lay it down for one that big. It appears to be OK. Now to find a decent turntable without spending $500.

Progress is being made, I got the following email from a topspin rep today:

Hey Chris ~ I'm so sorry to hear that your package arrived damaged. Bandmerch, who shipped the merchandise for My Morning Jacket, indicated they would ship out replacements for the Vinyl.
As soon as there is a projected ship date for the replacements, they will send an email to let you know when the packages ship. If you have additional questions, please contact Bandmerch directly: http://customerservice.bandmerch.com
Kind regards,
Barbara

So that's good, but I haven't heard from bandmerch since I sent them an email on the 8th.

Well, I got an email from bandmerch asking which of my orders had the faulty vinyl because I ordered both the limited edition box and the standard vinyl.  I actually haven't opened my standard package so I just told them the green for now and had to send them my order number.

I guess that is some progress.

Dear Discerning Vinyl Consumer,

As you are no doubt already aware, the manufacture and distribution of high-quality phonograph records is a highly-nuanced and sometimes tricky business that is subject to any number of vicissitudes as the finely grooved discs travel along the path from their origin to you, the listener.

It has come to our attention that an unfortunately high percentage of folks who purchased the "Deluxe Box" edition of My Morning Jacket's Circuital discovered a most unfortunate condition of warpage on one or both of their green 12" LPs. That is why, in order to guarantee maximum value and listening pleasure, new pairs of brand-new, warp-free green LPs are being mailed out to all purchasers of the "Deluxe Box" free of charge. So watch your mailbox. And hold on to your gatefold sleeves and jackets, folks, you'll be needing those for your new discs.

We offer our sincerest apologies for this unfortunate circumstance, and we thank all of our partners in manufacturing and distribution for working hard to help us correct the situation. They all remain committed to delivering top-notch goods and we're glad for that.

We thank you for your patience and for giving us a chance to make things right. And enjoy the green LPs, we think they sound fantastic.

Sincerely,

ATO Records

That's cool, but mine came 100% fine and not warped. So I guess I'll just have a spare pair, or maybe I'll give them to someone else.
That's motherfuckin' John Oates!

Not too sure you will get a freebie here. They did ask if there was a problem with yours to notify them.  ;)

Nope...everyone is getting a replacement.

Why does MMJ never cease to amaze me?  It's like they can do no wrong.
