good luck with your BUYcott. good thing arizona is such a hotbed of manufacturing and production. this should be easy.

You are more right than you know, though I sense you were going for a smarmy, sarcastic swipe at those who choose to support Arizonans, so luck is not needed, thanks.

i have nothing against the people of arizona. i feel strongly about securing the little we have left of the middle class and the average person's ability to earn at least a livable wage. that being said, the boycott should maybe be taken as a message from those who oppose sb1070 to elect politicians and implement policies that speak to the character of what the country is about.

I say that if MMJ wants to stand behind health care reform, then they have every right to do so.

Oops...wrong thread.  Carry on.

Some of you guys are missing the point - Sure, I acknowledge that MMJ has a right to boycott Arizona.  I never disputed that.  But I also have a right to criticize what I believe to be a misguided decision on the band's part.

What is completely ridiculous about this whole thing is that despite my personal opposition to the law, a MAJORITY OF AMERICANS support it (here you go: http://abcnews.go.com/images/WN/1110a8%20Immigration.pdf)

So what now, MMJ, are you going to just boycott the entirety of the USA?  What do you think the support for sb1070 is in their own home state, backwoods Kentucky of all places??? Probably pretty high!

All the more reason to give them extra credit for going against the majority.  What does the majority view have to do with the bands view?  With all due respect, that doesn't really make any sense.   The majority of americans also like Celine Dion, So You Think You Can Dance and McDonalds.   Does that mean I should too?  MMJ has proven time and time again that they aren't all that worried about making everyone happy.  They do what they feel is important to THEM and don't really give a damn what the "majority" thinks.  I don't necessarily agree with them on this particular issue, I guess you could say I'm still on the fence.  But guess what I have done to help the country with this issue?   Nothing.   At least the band has done something.  The power of the vote and our decision making is all we have.  The band is just using theirs.
I'm digging, digging deep in myself, but who needs a shovel when you have a little boy like mine.

I honestly don't think they've done much at all.   To imply that bands that have joined the boycott have taken some sort of action is laughable, and here's why:

Unfortunately for me and others that live in the Phoenix area, Phoenix is an easy market to skip over. The crowds are only about average and the financial impact on the artist for choosing not to play here is minimal. Skipping Arizona on your tour is not "taking action" in my opinion. It's like me saying "I'm not buying any more French wine due to their lack of support in Iraq" when I have maybe two glasses of French wine all year anyway.

Now, on the other hand, did you see any musicians boycotting California after Proposition 8 passed last year?  Of course not.  You think they'd miss out on the markets of San Diego, LA, Bay Area, all the festival appearances (Coachella, Treasure Island, etc...)? Hell no.  That would require sacrifice on the part of the band.  AZ is just an easy target, and to "boycott" and disengage from dialogue within the state is just kind of a lazy way to make a band feel better about themselves - and it only impacts the local fans and promoters.  It really requires no effort other than removing a tour date and adding your name to a list.  Its like signing one of those lame internet petitions.  Please.
