Too bad this is at the same time as the Arcade Fire.

It'll start after Arcade Fire - you'll be able to catch both.

The Good News is that they occasionally show these ACL Aftershows on PBS!

The Bad News is that they only show a few songs. Thirty minutes up to an hour.

This is not the same thing.

The after shows are not shown on PBS. Those are taping done at the ACL Studio.

2nd Stubb's night shows start early and on a Sunday have to end by 10 to 10:30. Arcade Fire are the last band to play so there is no way to see Jim and Arcade Fire.

And if you live around Austin. Iron and Wine perform this Friday at the Paramount as part of his annual benefit show for Texas Midwives. Always fun show.

I thought all of the shows I've seen so far on this Channel (The National, Racounters, and Them Crooked Vultures) were all outside shows.

So we're never gonna get see this thing with Jim and Sam? :(

ACL has a big music festival every year, not just the show on PBS.
That's motherfuckin' John Oates!

Didn't realize the curfew was so early at Stubb's on Sundays.  I know I've done ACL headliner >>> Stubb's aftershow before without missing much of either.

I would expect Jim to hit the stage at 8 to 8:30 since doors are at 7pm for this show. Really wish this show was Friday night.

subinai

i was wondering about that.... who would the headliner be?

Ahhhh......Iron and Wine of course...what are you crazy?  You have obviously have never seen Iron and Wine live.
God damn those shaky knees.

DaFunkyPrecedent

Anyone gonna hit up the Phosphorescent late night show?  if you're a fan of Jim James...then you would LOVE LOVE LOVE Matthew Houck aka Phosphorescent.   They're one of the best bands in Rock & Roll - backed by some of the hippest lyrics I've ever heard.  "Here's To Taking It Easy" was album of the year for me...please someone tell me they're going to their late night show!!!
God damn those shaky knees.

And Stubb's indoors is teeny.  That one will be great.

I think I convinced my younger sister that lives in Austin to go.
She missed out on ACL tickets for the first time in years.
This might just make up for it for her.

I was under the impression they were "SHARING" a stage. Not just going to the dance but getting it on together.
Maybe I was wrong twice in the same thread.  :-\
Still a can't miss show. (Within a 6 Hour Driving Radius)

I mean, of course they'll do some songs together - but it will be Jim James solo -> Jim and Sam -> Iron and Wine -> Iron and Wine and Jim....well, atleast that's what I think.

I don't think that is the way it will go done at all. I just saw Iron & Wine on Friday and Sam mentioned how he would be back in September with a full band.  So I would expect it to just be Jim Solo and then Iron & Wine with a full band. Maybe Jim will come out for 1 song but I wouldn't expect a lot of collaboration.

kotchishm

I know it's a longshot but what would be the likelihood this might get taped?

From Stubb's Website:
Ultimately, the camera and recording policy are up to the discretion of the artist performing that evening, but in most cases the house policy represents an industry standard. Stubb's standard house policy does not allow professional cameras, audio or video recording devices, or cameras with detachable lenses unless the artist performing that evening has approved proper press credentials. Point and shoot cameras that fit in a front shirt pocket are acceptable as long as they do not have a detachable lens.

This will turn up online somewhere (i hope)...it's too much of a rarity for someone NOT to get a recording of.

:D :D :D  I agreeeeeeeeee!!!!

Due to extremely fortunate separate circumstances, I will actually not be making this 20-hour trip but may be living another part of my dreams in its stead.......

But Crispy and Breaux (and anyone else attending!!!) please supply details details details!!!!!  And here's to the recording!

Here it is, in its entirety, our cover of ELO's Telephone Wire

Don't be surprised if Preservation is the "full band" Sam referred to.
