They play First Light but skip Wonderful...SERIOUSLY? :-\ again!
First Light is off the hook live.  Super duper dance party, not so sure what the problem is....

*and I love Wonderful, don't get me wrong.  But First Light is so fun....

amen sister!
I'm digging, digging deep in myself, but who needs a shovel when you have a little boy like mine.

As much pissy as I can come for the LAY LOW lack (I threatend to kill myself if they didn't play it) it was GLORIOUS, this was my MMJ devirginization and it was amazing.

The Wonderful cut doesn't piss me at all, but LAY LOW, was MY track. Doesn't matter, I fucking left my feet, my neck and my soul right there on seat H4.

:D They weren't that chatty, are they usually chatty?

Notable absences: Highly Suspicious, Touch Me Pt 1 :( I thought they were -musts-)

Jim doesn't believe in talking a lot at shows.  People come to see their favorite artist play not talk, so he tries to keep it at a minimum.

Honest Man was a nice addition, but the set felt a little too similar to the MWP show Friday night. But that's just me.

And hey, we got Burwells tonight!

I've seen Jim talk plenty at shows.

The boys were pumped and ready to play last night. Carl was so impressive with his energy, and I can't believe Patrick was even there after a bad lobster roll...loved the clock-arms. They sounded so good and the new songs just filled the venue. I was 5 rows from the stage and it was nice to see them having so much fun. It was also nice to have the sea breeze coming off of the water. Sunday night shows are always a bit tough, but this one was wonderful. Thanks MMJ!

setlist last night was great. mix of old and new and everything sounded WAY TIGHT.

My thoughts (and the Globe review) on last night's show. Any worries that the band might be tired were immediatley dismissed. The band was on fire in Boston.

Below is the Boston Globe review from last night's dream pairing of the way awesome My Morning Jacket, and the fabulous Ms. Neko Case. Someone asked me 'what kind of music does My Morning Jacket play?' and all I could say was, They're a rock and roll band. To try and make comparisons, the best I can offer is think of the Southern jam of the Allman Brothers coupled with the moDErn energy of a Foo Fighters. But even that's not it. MMJ are truly a unique band (although others do seem to try and lift the vibe - Fleet Foxes being one such example). But last night in Boston, this was a band on a mission - it's been a long time since I've seen a band rock with such intensity. Simply ferocious. Singer/guitarist Jim James played and commanDEd the stage like a man possessed. An amazing talent - he and his Louisville, KY bandmates truly just blew the crowd away. Loved seeing opener Neko - although it was probably too big a space for her style...Anyways, if you think there's not much new great R&R being maDE these days - check out My Morning Jacket (my fave is their CD 'Z'). They've quietly been one of America's best bands for awhile now. Last night, they took it to a whole other level. - DE

Jacket's searing sound thrills a packed house
At: the Bank of America Pavilion, last night
By Jonathan Perry
A dozen years and six studio albums into its echo-laden, momentum-building career, My Morning Jacket remains both a musical enigma and a galvanizing force. The Louisville, Ky., band deftly straddles, with seemingly effortless ease and an unrelenting visceral attack, both indie-rock's restless, do-it-yourself spirit and classic rock's traditionalist, broad-based sensibility.

My Morning Jacket's early albums sounded and felt like grand secrets: Towering cathedrals of reverb built upon quicksand-deep grooves of jam-heavy rock (but without the aimless noodling that sinks so many exponents of that latter school of style). The band's most recent work has, rightfully, been embraced by an increasingly devoted fan base - thanks, in no small part, to the fiercely searing and searching live shows such as the one the band delivered before a packed Bank of America Pavilion last night.

The title of the quintet's latest album, "Circuital'' (the first since 2003's commercial breakthrough, "It Still Moves,'' to be recorded back home in Kentucky), refers to returning, or coming full circle, to the group's hometown, home-spun roots. Despite its seemingly humble origins - the new album was recorded in a church gymnasium converted into a studio - the band continues to launch its aspirations outward, and upward. That song and a handful of other new songs - the opener, "Victory Dance,'' a delirious, anthemic reading of "Holdin' On To Black Metal,'' throbbed and reverberated with, well, not only the band's trademark reverb-drenched sonic pillaging, but portent, joy, and even arena-sized melancholy.

With a guitar opening that cheekily recalled the "Hawaii Five-O'' theme song, and a hard chugging rhythm that hit like a hybrid of reggae-metal, "Off The Record'' set guitars and hair a-blazing. Throughout the band's nearly 2 1/2-hour show, singer Jim James and lead guitarist Carl Broemel traded a ferocious collection of riffs and solos, but the entire band was in full-on force from start to finish.

James's mountaintop-clearing voice, keeningly high and powerful but also hitting hard and sure in lower registers, remained a thing of colossal power and impressive reach on selections new and old, from "First Light'' all the way back to "Honest Man.''

Neko Case proved a terrific choice as opener, employing a dose of elegiac heartache, ringing heartbreak, and a Patsy Cline-esque swoon of her own. In addition to her own 45-minute set, a special treat was hearing her come onstage to team with James on the 1983 Kenny Rogers and Dolly Parton duet, "Islands In the Stream,'' after My Morning Jacket had pretty much laid waste to islands, streams, and just about everything else in its wake.

this was my first mmj show.... i'm not sure what other people know and it feels like there's no point in going into how much i loved it because it seems like that was an universal feeling, so here are things i think i can say:
(1) the funkiness in the live version in touch me i'm going to scream (one of my favorite mmj songs) kinda made my night
(2) run thru was insane and the lighting throughout the whole thing is dazzling
(3) the lighting guys deserve a major award
(4) the sound guys too. pitch perfect throughout and when i left, my ears weren't ringing.
(5) i thought the circuital 1-2 (which i love) opening was so good they had to be doing it for every show

past that, i couldn't see jim james take a glass of water during the show -- how the hell can he sing that beautifully for that long? it doesn't seem possible.

also, according to the paper - patrick hallahan was sick. this does not seem possible. he was amazing, he looked like animal from the muppets from the mid seats (huge compliment) and the rainbow stick arm thing in the encore was amazing, like worth every service fee ticketmaster can throw at you.

I have yet to find one.  And I've been searchin'... Rumor has it that this show, as well as their 2010 Portland, ME show, were taped by the same guy, but I've reached out to him and known associates without success.

I do have the Boston show from 2008, my first show, if anyone is interested.
