;D  ;D

Just about recovered now, but it was well worth it. I'm up for that kinda show anytime, and I'll deal with the recovery if it means getting a show like that. ;)

i had a great time. but this venue definitely has a pre-11pm curfew even though they say 11pm.  They came on at at 8:10-8:15 and were off at 10:15.  Even though we had a 2.5 hour drive home, I was really hoping for more.
Don't you ever turn it off

Setlist was underwhelming but they rocked out hard as long as they could.  Not overly upset with IWSYS being cut as I saw it at Merriweather.

The show was good but I was expecting more, especially for the last show of the tour.  I am still happy I went though.
10: T5 (At Dawn, Z, Evil Urges) 11: VA, MSG, 2012: BK, Cap Theater 1-2 15: GovBall, XPN, Beacon 2+3

Anyone see any taping rigs?  I didn't even think to look.  I'd like to have a copy if one surfaces

Saw 3 rigs and talked to one of the tapers named George (nice guy) and he said he will post to bt.etree and eventually to the archive.

Review and photos to come...driving back to the Jerz in a downpour and trying to manage my post tour blues...

Some thoughts... On the rare occasion that My Morning Jacket has an "off" night, it's still better than 95% of other bands' best performances.  And whether or not last night could be considered an "off" night is of course debatable.  For those of us that made it to the craziness of Philly the night before, think about how tired you were next day... rocking your face off in the crowd at a jacket show as an audience member is one thing, but can you imagine being the band and having to try and replicate what happened the night before at a small venue in Charlottesville filled to less than half capacity?  Oh yeah and also it's the last show of a long and incredible tour, dominated by blistering sets night after night, city after city?

Ok, that being said... Yes last night was short, there were no bust outs, some of the guys were noticeably less animated than at Philly, Red Rocks, Merriweather, or whatever show you saw them at this summer when they crushed it (pretty much all of them).  However, you must remember that this is My Morning Jacket, and even an "ok" show still leaves you with a perma-grin that you will be hard pressed to find elsewhere!

After the show the drum tech tossed one of Patrick's drum skins like a frisbee into the crowd (I've got built in frisbee radar so no one else had a chance)... Snagged it and then was lucky enough to get the band to sign it (except for Bo unfortunately).

Big thanks to the band for sticking around after the show and thanks for an incredible tour!

Way to go Lurker!!  8)

We almost made it down to Charlottesville also, but it wasn't meant to be. Glad you were there, and I'm sure represented the forum and our great state of N.J. well!

Great pics...that drum skin, and a pic with JJ is well earned for all the miles you, and your wife logged, and $ spent. Still shakin'my head that we saw each other at RR, and got to hang for a few all those miles from home.

I'm sure we'll cross paths again, but til then, well done, and thanks for posting your thoughts and pics.

Agree with Lurker's reflections - great pics btw.  I also went to the Merriweather show so was hoping to hear Lay Low and a rarity or two (still waiting to hear War Begun live).

Now for my small rant -  my wife and I were on Jim's side right by the speakers and there was a group of very LOUD talkative frat boys in their polos that only paid attention to half the show (so distracting when your trying to get into the slow building songs like Dondante) . I believe it was the second to last song that a guy was trying to 'dance' his was up to the front row and some woman turned directly to him and said 'no fucking way your getting by me.' The dude played it off by proceeding to try to grind up on the woman at which point her husband grabbed the dude and said 'get the fuck off my wife' and shucked him out of the way!  Def had bad crowd experiences this tour (see the various Merriweather comments) .... nothing will top 'Roo 2008 for best crowd in my mind

TheLurker

Thanks for the kind words guys!  Trish and Eric too bad I didn't catch you guys in Philly, I think our paths will cross again in NYC mid September  ;)  But I did get a great conversation with Philly's own J Rudd and Dan just before the show started, you know when you have all that nervous energy and you're kind of freaking out.  That's the best.
