Horses for courses.

I love Battles.  I love Andrew Bird.  Love Animal Collective.  What they do is sequenced and processed.

The guy doesn't like rock, and fair play to him.  I've done my fair share of rock / hip hop/ electronica / raves over the years, and they're all good if you're in the mood.
I saw Andrew Bird a few years back. I wasn't aware that his music was looped and prerecorded. At the beginning of the set he couldn't get the prerecorded stuff to sync with what he was doing. I was pissed that all the stuff I had liked wasn't gonna be played. Quit liking his music that night and still don't.

it will be a good performance for everyone even that tiesto dude will get sucked in at some point. its nashville alot of people in the music industry will be in attendance, it will many people's first experience, and i know at least 20 or so show goers excited for the performance in GA. pumped  :D

WSP at the Fontanel on Friday (there are spirits in those woods), another great venue for the boys to check out next year if there's not that 2-night ryman session ive been hoping for...

Ok, I think it's time to start a roll call thread to include only the positives in which an up coming Mmj show provides.  Cya on the other side!
Y'all got any disco ball back there?

I believe many of us are guilty of putting a damper on a great thing...

My Morning Jacket in Nashville!

I'm sure they will bring it and make this event memorable, change some minds and win some new fans.  I hope everyone has a great time.

no apologies needed, I actually like the feedback from a venue I've never visited.  OTOH one of the things I enjoy about MMJ is visiting the "roll call" thread on a daily basis leading up to the show I will be attending.

I'm not by anyway trying to kill this thread, it's actually been quite entertaining.  I just don't want this to be the only one I read until Nashville.  2 more weeks, woohoo

Cheers man.  It's still lame to hijack a thread of a show I won't be attending.  I just like arguing with old school Slappy I think ;D

not old school.....just plain old.

i think i got a bit too worked up over some kid preferring.....err, whatever that is....over a jacket concert.  gotta learn to take my own advice: don't sweat the small stuff.

anyway, the main reason my buddies and i aren't going to nash vegas for this show is the lame-ass crowd and lousy sound at UK earlier this year.  i hope those who go will find it to be a better crowd and venue than what we experienced in lexington.

You MUST see this picture of the ads for the Commodore Quake!

Hey did you guys know Trey Songz is coming?  Yeah some other band is playing too, but WOW this will be 2 tha MAXXXXX!

Le sigh.  I should also take this opportunity to say, if anyone has a GA Floor ticket for this show for face value, please do hit me up.  I only want to see this show if I can get on the rail.  I thank you.

oh my lord, why do those Vandy kids suck so bad? They are probably the worst people in Nashville. The floor will still kick ass because only people who like the band (aka everyone else) will be there. Im now blowing my joint smoke in the nearest "i have to pass a drug test for my vandy internship"'s face.

Did you read the "article" accompanying the ad?   :-\

The Nashville Scene is not my favorite web site to go to for anything resembling journalism even though the print edition is more professional. I think the guy is trying to castigate the idiots at Vandy for promoting the concert this way. We'll just have to show them what real fans really act like. I've talked to quite a few people who are going that have nothing to do with Vanderbilt. I don't really think the crowd will suck as much as they are trying to make it. I just hope that they sell beer inside. I may need it to get through all the Songz.

So, first time here to the Forums and a Nashville native... Looking forward to the show and hope it's a great one. Kind of ironic I first learned about MMJ from Vandy's college station. The song on the radio was Bermuda Highway and I was hooked for the first chord, that was about 7 years ago maybe?? I noticed they don't play that song much in concert from the setlist's I've seen... I am hoping for Wonderful, love that song.. I have seen a few decent concerts at Vandy, I'm an old DMB follower and saw them in the late 90's there and Smashing Pumpkins in there hay day... Anyways couldn't get floor seats so I'll be in section G1 seat 592 if anyone is sitting close and wants to say hello

Won't be sitting near ya buddy, but it's great to see you on the forum. Make sure to come back even after the show and check in. Became a forum member a month or two ago, and I check it daily. Judging from the few other band forums I've been on, this one definitely is the best community. Enjoy the show.
It's all happening.

Will do, I use to be on the DMB forums all of the time back in the day, but can't get into the new DMB stuff... I'd say for the last year MMJ has been tops on my list but have been a fan for the last several years.

That's awesome. Been into the band since late 2008, but I didn't see a show until this year. Since then, they've probably jumped into the lead slot in my favorite bands. Just out of curiosity, is the "JaytheRevelator" name a White Stripes reference?
It's all happening.

this came out today, alot better than that other article.

Yes it is. While I do get that the author of the other article was trying to insult Vanderbilt, he wasn't too nice to MMJ.  This article could benefit from mentioning tonight's show. I have to say that I'm really disappointed in the way the Vandy bunch is treating the Jacket with much respect.

neo-Southern psychedelia

"Monsters of neo-Southern psychedelia" ... MOF should totally change names.

in other news, I'm not so sure how circuital could be considered 70s psych rock, but it's good to see some good being said! I never thought of it until now, but in the spirit of tonight's show it's also interesting that Circuital was mixed in Nashville.
