car rental from the grandma to boca is too much.. but borrow the town car with sunpass for 3 1/2 hour ride down the coast and its possible...

This sounds like this could be anyones grandparents that live it Florida, at least it used to mean my grandparents,...where abouts do your grandparents live?  Ride down the coast for 3 1/2 hours sounds like near Orlando or maybe near Daytona?

new smyrna beach, if it ends up possible, there may be a post about splitting gas from the airports and back. when will tickets sell out to sunset?

This is too funny cause my grandparents used to live in New Smyrna Beach Florida and i have visited there many times.  I still have family there and love to go to this town cause it is a beach town and has a pretty fun go cart/mini golf course there that i go to everytime i visit.  If you happen to go to this town a good restaurant to eat at is Spanish River Grill, i used to work there and the food is great, but pretty pricey for Florida.  You have to get the bread pudding dessert cause it is just that good!!! If you are going to the MSG show a few days later buy me one to bring with you and i will pay you dearly for it!!!

havent been there since i was a kid, really want to get down to this venue and catch some warm weather, if it ends up possible you may have a ride from new smyrna haha. tickets are 52 or whatever and i hope they stay available for another few weeks/month..

I am not going to be making this show however it wouldn't be a bad time to visit the folks down in Florida then.  At least i know one Jacket fan that will be driving down from New Smyrna Beach to attend this show.  If i happen to visit them i will let you know though so we can go to the show together if you want?  But chances are that i will not be making this show and just making the MSG show a few days later, but thanks for the offer on a ride though!  Enjoy the show though and glad they are playing a few venues down in the sunshine state.

I find the venue to be a curious decision.  Of all the places they could have chosen in South Florida, I would have never thought that Sunset Cove would be the choice.  I've never seen a show there, nor do I know someone who has.

I'm thinking its going to be rather intimate, and hopefully with some nice So. Fla December weather, so it could be pretty nice

So stoked they are playing here.  I have seen Silversun Pickups and The Deftones there recently.  It is in the middle of nowhere, really west on Glades Road.  It literally is a park with a stage, no seats.  My wife and I will be there for the soundcheck and I hope it is worth the extra money we spent on it.  I saw them in 2008 in Miami @ The Fillmore and was literally right in front of Carl the whole time, he even threw me his pick when the show ended.  I never thought I could top that night so I am hoping this soundcheck will.  Hope to see you all my fellow MMJ'ers there, too.
Yikes!

I've been asking around, and i've got a few friends who have seen shows at this venue.  Each one of them described it as an intimate outdoor venue.  I'm getting really excited for the show.  I will be there with my girlfriend, and we will be at the soundcheck too.  After 2+ years of dating me, this will be her first MMJ show, so I'm pumped to share the experience with her.
I look forward to seeing everyone out there from the board.

That is so cool.  This also will be my wife's first show, she didn't come with me when I saw them in Miami in "08 so I am so stoked for her to experience this awesome, epic event.  December cannot get here quick enough. ;D
Yikes!

I'm thinking about going to this show. I'll have to go alone if I do. I can't imagine the husband will want to go. I think it wouldn't be too hard to swing. The money is the only issue as far as I can see. I wouldn't even have to take off work. After Nashville, I really want another show before the year is out.

Stevie

I have an extra pair of tickets for this show.  I was originally planning a big east coast swing but can no longer make it to florida.  I paid just under $90 for both tickets with fees included.  I would like get face value back for them but will consider other offers.  PM me if interested.  Thanks!

Bermuda highway at this show would be so effing epic

Is anyone going to the sound check...if so, do you know what time they will begin to allow folks to head in for it?

thanks in advance

We're not going to the sound check but will be getting there early. The place is REAL small (as in tiny), you'll be able to hear everything from the lot ;).

My Perfect Day = Snowboarding on a powder day in the trees & listening to my favorite music.

Oh so very envious for the dudes getting to bring a date to this show. I'm driving across the Alley (from Naples) to rage this solo. Unfortunately I know almost nobody with decent taste in music or a girl worthy of taking her to see Jim. I'm used to doing fests and shows with other people. MMJ is probably the only act I would consider going to by myself. I never get to listen to MMJ with someone else anyway so I guess it makes sense. I'm stoked for the show none the less. Have been waiting for a lcoal opportunity to see them for over 3 years now.

I'm quite accustomed to making friends on forums to meet up with in the event I don't feel like babbling to myself or to the poor stranger next to me. I'm going to put a lot of energy into the show and really hope to get as close as I can.

I guess if there is anyone who would like any extra company at the show, let me know.
I'm not sketchy, shady or a creeper. I share, and am just checking out the forum to see about meeting up with some folks who are going to be as into this show as I will be.

This is going to be the best early birthday gift for this guy.

for the hell of it, My Birthday Wish/Set List:

First Light
Slow Slow Tune
Honest Man
Bermuda Highway
Phone Went West
Low Down
Off the Record
Thank You Too!
Holdon' on to Black Metal
The Day is Coming
War Begun
Old September Blues

So I wrote an email to the artist arena folks about the time for the sound check.  They responded and said that an email detailing all of the information will be sent out 3-5 days before the performance.....so the email should be coming within the next couple of days.

Anyone get the email for the sound check....I didn't.

Hello MMJ board,

I'm from the midwest but working down in Miami for the next two weeks.  I'll be driving up to Boca solo and would enjoy drinking a beer with some fellow fans before the show.

From the sound of things this is going to be a good one.. Considering there is snow on my lawn at home but I'll be outdoors in shorts, how could it not be?

PM me. Hope to see some of you there.

Haldon

So I got the email about the soundcheck.  It says the be there from 245-315 to pick up the passes, and they will let people in at somepoint after that.

Anyone going to this show MUST take this poster up on their offer. We were lucky enough to get to both the LA and SF soundchecks, and they were a ton of fun. I thought it would be pretty standard with the same songs each night, but it was far from that. Great interactions, and we got different tunes each night.

Really cool to see the guys laid back a bit, honing their craft. Jim's comedic banter with the band and the Roll Callers.... too funny!! Hearing a few tunes in such an intimate setting is such a blast. I don't think there was more than 100 - 150 people in there at the max.

I'm hooked on the soundcheck, and hope they continue to offer it on future tours. I'll be doing everyone I can. Kinda bummed now that it wasn't offered for MSG.  ;)

It would be totally awesome, but I'd fear for the safety of your heart! I'd have to make sure there was a defibrillator real close. ;)
