Seems like this would be the PERFECT venue to try a "Roll Call members only" entrance and/or GA space.  Not sure if the powers-that-be at MSG would let it happen, but how does the saying go?

"Membership has its privileges."

Roll Call is great but the whole ticket transaction thing stresses me out. At Red Rocks, we had to drive down a mountain, luckily we had 2 sober people everyone saving spots. How did this work at other venues?

At most shows I've been to this tour the will call box office was already open when we got in line. And we were usually pretty close to if not the front of the line.
don't rock bottom, just listen just slow down...

MPP was great. We went to the box office early afternoon to pick up tix, before we checked into the hotel. Boston was similar, picked up the tix around 3:00pm. Philly was pretty easy too. The longest line there was getting a wristband in order to buy alcohol.  ;)

Red Rocks was a haul, and thankfully we had enough people to drive down, and hold our spots on the entrance line.

I'd imagine MSG will be pretty easy, as their box office is usually open all day. We could probably pick up our tix at anytime, and then hit up the pre-party. That's what I'm planning on doing. The drag, imo, is going to be leaving the party early to get on the ga line, and stand in the cold outside. For Springsteen  they wouldn't let us line up inside. We had to wait in Penn Plaza til doors opened, unless you were lucky enough to win the pit lottery. Then you only had to wait  til after soundcheck.

This east/west GA thing is odd. emailed Roll Call for clarification.. we'll see.

didn't NYE at MSG sell out? realizing that weds 12/14 isn't quite NYE but they've done it once... why can't they do it again?

walterfredo

No, NYE did not sell out. The 400 level was relatively empty.

Interesting. Well I remember looking around during the show and there were plenty of empty seats in the upper level. It was relatively full though.

I think it did, and this seems to verify:

it couldn't have.. i remember at the time there were still tix and the upper levels were pretty sparse..? weird..
but come on...there's nothing sexy about poop. Nothing.  -bbill

As far as MSG  selling out I think it depends on the entertainment and what seats they make available...a boxing event is going to have a different layout then a concert or hockey game. For each type of event they only sell a certain amount of seat which might not be the full capacity of the venue. Every sold out shows I have been to always had tickets for sale on the day of the event...scalpers...late ticket releases...miracles. At the end of the day it doesn't matter...I've got mine

also think a Wed. night show will deter a decent amount of casual fans

What are the chances they announce a roll call only show at a SMALL venue on Thursday 12/15? Swipe your membership card at the door...

It's nice to dream anyway

MMJ uses a stage backdrop so any seats behind that are not for sale, hence the 2008 NYE "sellout." For Phish and Pearl Jam shows that I've seen at MSG, there's no backdrop, they just sellout the whole damn thing, its pretty amazing.

I'm pretty sure they didn't sell any tickets in the 400 section.

Agreed. Since Roll Call confirmed that the Roll Call GA pre-sale tickets are indeed "West GA", I can't contain myself. This is gonna be the most badass night of my year, hands down.
