The show was great and the guys seemed to have alot of energy but it was just a two hour show.  The setlist was pretty much what they have been playing throughout this tour.  They didn't break out any rarities or anything.

Interesting show.  Set list was similar to the la one for the most part.  Different songs played were Dancefloors, slow slow tune, touch me 2 and dondante.  Another little chafe was closing the main set with PWW

Overall it was a fun show but I think la was the better of the two

Why would they not play X-Mas Curtain at a Holiday show?

It was still a fun show but I liked LA better. It could have been louder from where I could tell since I was on the rail again. Last night's Golden sounded a little bit sped up and there was also some weird acoustic guitar intro from Jim on Circuital. It was fun but I wanted more variety. The big con was that the place was filled with so many inconsiderate kids. One girl wanted my spot during Slow Tune and when I didn't give it up she cursed me out and got me mad, ruined the song for me.

Got Jim's setlist and some sore thighs. Highlights were Touch Me Part 2 and Dancefloors.

I'd love to see that setlist, a photo or typed up.  Can't find the complete setlist anywhere.

I love Dancfloors mmmmmm.

Im getting antsy for a whole setlist and the poster
don't rock bottom, just listen just slow down...

brob

There was no show specfic poster for this show.  As said before, the LA show was the better of the two even with the technical difficulties LA had.

e_wind

does the san diego show being a radio station event the reason I wonder?

I would think that played a big factor. They were selling SF posters from the night before at the show.

UHHHHH SO MANY HIGH SCHOOL KIDS! At age 31 I was the oldest person in the lower crowd, I looked at the seats and I was younger than everyone else up there.

As well, the majority Of the high school college crowd appeared to leave before mmj.  I think most of them were there for Matt & Kim and the two door cInema band.
But either way it was a blast.

I still enjoyed all of the opening bands. Wouldn't go see them thought unless they were openers.
Alot of girls shouting "Kim you are my Idol I want to be you". They seemed to leave before MMJ.
It was just such a different vibe that a MMJ show where people respect your personal space.

agreed.  they all did their thing very well

Yeah, this was a fun show, but understandably not the typically MMJ crowd and kinda weird for that reason.  It was almost like the radio station/promoter was trying to educate the kids about MMJ, so they put a bunch of (I guess) popular club and dance bands on the bill to bring 'em in and then tried to convince them to appreciate some good music with MMJ.  The MC was schooling the audience about what to expect right before they came on, telling the kids to stay for the whole set to really get what they are about.  He clearly was a big fan and on a mission to promote them, that was kinda cool.  He asked for a show of hands as to how many had seen MMJ before and there were not many hands raised.  Most kids I saw were really getting into it so it seemed like a success to me.  A few older folks behind me were burning some weed and they didn't get hassled, in spite of LOTS of police presence at the show.

The venue was a lot different than the gorgeous art-deco theaters they've been playing, this was a spartan college gym, but it sounded just fine and good and loud from down on the floor about 10 people back from the front.  The opening bands were cringe-worthy for me, especially Two Door Cinema Club who sounded like they wanted to bring back the 80s, which to me is a bad memory best left forgotten, but each to his own.  Most people were totally getting into it and the band was pretty tight and energetic, just not my cup of tea.  I missed Delta Spirit, though, which was the one opening band I was interested in.  Too bad they played so early.  I struck out on finding some good food, a pre-show meet up, or selling my extra ticket, so I was solo but I found a good dive bar not too far from the show and had a blast with the regulars there.  The parking and shuttle buses around the huge and hilly campus was kind of complicated, but I eventually found a good parking spot and I was able to have my own discrete tailgate party, so to speak, without hassle.

I don't have the whole setlist, either, but its been mostly covered, it was the typical set these days with Dancefloors as the rarity.  No Lay Low, Anytime, Magheeta, or Gideon unless my memory of the night is more swiss cheese than I think.  I agree, LA was better, but San Diego was satisfying, too, just to hear a few different songs and be in the presence of the greatness that is MMJ for a couple more hours.  I'll go see 'em anywhere, anytime I can.

It was a weird show but totally worth the drive.  I was up on the rail Carl side right in front of the Bass speakers and we got rattled throughout the night.  Matt and Kim the bass was insane and if it weren't for a considerate security guard who gave a few of earplugs I would have been too deaf to hear MMJ.  The kids hanging around were annoying as everyone else has said but fortunately being on the rail it was pretty easy just to hold on tight when they tried to steal our spots.

Once Two Door Cinema Club finished it mellowed a ton and everyone was pretty chill.  The show was lots of fun but nothing super special.  One of the funnier moments of the night came as the band was starting Slow Slow Tune.  Jim was up front doing his guitar stuff as the security guards keep pulling person after person over the rail.  He and the rest of the band seemed concerned and didn't understand that the security saw jumping the rail and going around the pit as a viable way to leave (WTF).  Jim went to his mic and asked "are they all right?" just as the security was helping a girl out who proceeded to hop on the edge of stage and wave her arms around until security grabbed her and took her off and Jim said "well I know she's all right".  After that they stopped letting people over the rail.

The Dondante was really strange from the other 5-6 of them I've seen this year.  It started loud and fast with the full band and never really quieted down.  Even the sax solo had Jim still playing guitar over it.  It was certainly different.

Over all I had a fun time as always but it was kind of odd not seeing as many of the regulars as usual.  I walked around the front of the line before doors and only knew one person.

This girl caused a big problem for me, I got out the way for her to jump the rail but a girl behind me was just like "Can I have your spot"? I said No and she told me to move over and I said no. and we both started screaming and cursing.

The Dondante Saturday night was really weird. I didn't even know what song it was till Jim started singing. I kind of prefer that song as an outdoor song now.
