OK, so Manchester will be my first MMJ show and I was wondering what to expect, apart from some great music of course! Are they banterers? Are they loud (I like loud!)?

Its going to be a great end to three great weeks taking in Wilco last week and Bon Iver the week before. Can't wait.

The guy that pops in about halfway through the vid sums it up pretty well

Blasphemy...god no! Usually YY will take an opportunity at some point in the show to welcome the crowd and say something poetic about the city he is in, but otherwise, its all beautiful, mystical business.
soft and warm all the time make you want it over and over

Hey, Mark, so glad to hear you got those two songs. That really is awesome on top of last night's show.  Say hi to SBB and Sunnyday.  They must be in heaven!

(Go over to the Leeds thread to read about my adventure into Manchester a few hours ahead of you)

They're not are they, but that's cool. I was a massive Husker Du fan and they barely ever said a word (mind you I also love Josh T Pearson who talks almost as much as he sings). Besides the band seemed to be having a lot of fun last night, Jim especially, which is always great for an audience to see,

So the show completely exceeded all my high expectations. And I couldn't have been happier when the first notes of Steam Enging were played. The one song I wanted to hear above all others.

Anyone able to compile a setlist?

MarkW

Interesting to note that the gig was originally scheduled for the Academy 1 (capacity 2300), but was actually in Academy 2 last night (capacity 800).

Enjoyed the gig last night, very much. I'm wondering if anyone who knows can write a setlist from the night. Or tell me how many songs they sang before 'Golden'- I was in the pub losing track of time, which is ironic as that's a theme of the song!!.. I came in when MMJ were playing that. Just hope I didn't miss too much  ???

You can always check here, too.  Manchester is not up, yet, however.

Yeah I did not expect that
don't rock bottom, just listen just slow down...

I hate this venue, one tiny entrance in the far corner, and usually rammed. If you can get down the front, stay there because any attempt to go to the bat of the toilet is a dead loss.

soundgarden1981

gig was amazing what a band.my oh my. :) :D :) :D :D :) :D

What A Wonderful Man and Anytime looks good to me, I'd love to hear those in LA or Sand Diego next month!
