Fucking awesome!  Nice meeting some new fan people too.

I grabbed an extra poster and if anyone really wants one that couldn't get one let me know.

So, no one got to film the Soundcheck party?  What about just a recording?  Any cool questions answered?

solid show.  I'm glad they are mixing it up a bit from the summer tour shows.  It seems like they made a cognizant effort to give us a some different songs from the Fox show.  I appreciate that.

My highlights:
it beats 4 u
i will sing you songs
at dawn
cobra
huge dondante

i think One big holiday is the one of the greatest encore songs penned by any band/artist...up there with Purple Rain if you've seen Prince a bunch.

the venue was less than desirable for me.  the place was huge and undersold.  capacity was 7K.  I bet there was maybe 5K in attendance.  we were in the first balcony section directly in front of stage and had problems hearing the bass.  drum kick was muddy too.  vox were decent, but with all the reverb they use it didn't really matter...probably just added to the affect.

crowd was typical SF/Bay area:  txt obsessed and chatty.  i didn't have to tell anyone to STFU but my wife was giving dirty looks and it seemed to work.  thanks babe!

the poster by Fung was nice.  i told myself i'd never buy one of his prints after he did 2 donkeys humping for the last greek show.  i'm a sucker for bears i guess.

wow...another amazing setlist...hoping for something special in NYC!

Before they let us in for the party, we could hear them soundcheck I'm Amazed and Cobra.  So, there was a soundcheck before the soundcheck party.

They stroll out and they all see the guy in the bear suit with the Circuital magic eye made from glow sticks around his face (in the pic that bo tweeted), and Jim said that that was the most beautiful thing he'd ever seen.

After If All Else Fails, Jim said he was experiencing high pitched feedback in his ear and talked to the sound person about it.  He then said that was the fun of the soundcheck party, getting to hear them hash out high pitched feedback problems.

Jim said they visited the de Young museum and the "Region of Horror".  It took awhile before someone in the crowd realized he was talking about the Legion of Honor.

Someone asked what they had for lunch.  This seemed to make Jim think, and Jim finally said that the tour is better the longer they go without eating.  He then said it was a good question.  ( Maybe they don't eat until after the show? )

Then someone asked if they had seen the Muppet Movie yet.  Jim said immediately, "Unfortunately."  He said he didn't care for the first half of the movie at all, but he liked the second half.  Patrick then said that Jim was the only person he knew who felt that way.  Jim then said sarcastically that Patrick and a bunch of people they knew all said it was awesome.  Jim finished by saying that he takes his Muppets seriously.

Anyone know the artist who did the soundcheck poster that we got?  I was expecting a lithograph, but was pleased when I saw it was a silkscreen poster.

sounds really cool. its kind of a bummer that in all the shows I've seen post roll call they haven't offered a soundcheck party yet. my time will come.
don't rock bottom, just listen just slow down...

SWEET JESUS!   :o this show was a barn burner end to end!

quote of the night, as the band began playing dondante rizzo's girl leaned over and said, "i think they're trying to kill me."

so many crazy surprises in the set list!  when they started the intro to cobra i hollered.  then hollered more. and hollered again between throwing down quality dance moves.

MIND BLOWN.

SOCKS ROCKED OFF.

HEART FULL.

HATS OFF TO YOU, GENTS!

and now:  going for first coffee of the day. :coffee:

show bonus:  so many old pals in attendance last night it felt like old home week.  danz, i made it out of the show without any injuries!

more thoughts to come.  you know i've got notes.  ;D

Hi...lurker here...but I had to post to agree!  I couldn't have said it any better myself.  Just unbelievable.  I think it is impossible for this band to disappoint me.  Each time I see them the show is better than the one before.  Musical perfection!!
anything + reverb always = better

Yes!  The Cobra dancing was awesome!  There was also a point where Jim was wearing the towel on his head and he stuck his thumb out in the air and his tongue out like "Hacksaw" Jim Duggan used to do.

They always play such epic shows in the Bay Area, and this was no exception.

On another note, I hope the person that needed medical attention during Sharon Jones' set is alright.  That sure seemed to shake her up quite a bit.

Hell to the yeah.  I've seen MMJ all over the country (and Canada) but I must say that I feel a special kind of love in the bay area.  And Jim's moves during Cobra....wow!

That being said, the couple behind me talked all during Cobra - I'm a hippie chick and I  still wanted to punch them in the face.

Looking forward to MSG!

Here's my Golden vid. Not as good as my Victory Dance one. I also have about 30 seconds of At Dawn.

I thought the Fox show in June was a touch better, but I'm not complaining about seeing the opening track on five of the band's six records in the same night.

Golden:

At Dawn:

Fwiw, I use my phone to keep track of the setlist. I also turn the brightness as low as it'll go so the phone doesn't annoy the crap out of people.

Last bit of self-promotion — Here's a link to my review, which has a link to a Photobucket slide show with about 30 pics: http://dailyrepublic.typepad.com/forthoseabouttorock/2011/12/show-time-my-morning-jacket-bill-graham-civic-auditorium-12211.html

Socks ms. yvon? They were the only things rocked off?!  ???

Sure....
At my house, we call them uh-ohs.

Rizzos Girl

Rizzo and I just got home from our CA trek.  Still flying high from the show last night.  LA was super fun even with all the technical problems but last night.... OMG it was CRAZY!!  We had choice spots on the rail smack in front of Tom/Carl and can I just say Carl was on fire. Tom was also on fire and as cheeky as ever.  Patrick and Bo were throwing water bottles at each other at one point.  And Jim, oh Jim.  The Cobra dance moves and then him throwing on Pooch's poncho was nothing short of spectacular fun.  Their energy was electric and we fed off it all night.

Every show we go to we meet more of you Forum folks and it slowly pulls me from being someone who's just read this Form to actually wanting to post more.

PLEASE tell me someone got a vid of Jim's Cobra moves!!!!

Ms Yvon and Vespa Chick - you two ladies are QUALITY!!  Thank you for the finest of evenings and post show hotel lobby beers were icing on the cake.

Good times. I managed to end up with a setlist (Gideon and butch Cassidy were on it and scratched out). Ended up at an Irish bar post show up the street and Bo was there chilling with some friends.

Cobra!!
