i think you might enjoy this...

On 10/10/10, Les Debutantes will release Centennial, a 100-song album that features many bands and musicians with ties to the city of Louisville, including ex-MMJ members Danny Cash and Johnny Quaid, and current MMJ members Jim James and Two Tone Tommy.

The word "ambitious" came to mind, and then I see they used that in the ad. I want this badly, but I suppose it's too much to ask for it to be available on vinyl. "It'll be available as twelve vinyl circles, fifty 7-inch's, forty cassettes, and 4500 ringtones."
"...it's gonna be great -- I mean me coming back with the band and playing all those hits again"

Wow.   That's some project!
I'm digging, digging deep in myself, but who needs a shovel when you have a little boy like mine.

I'm incredibly curious about this.

He will be in Austin on the 9th and NY on the 12th.  Louisville IS right in between.....

How loud can silence get?

Now they're making videos for the songs.

i don't really get this. what song did Jim contribute?
don't rock bottom, just listen just slow down...

CC

Jim shares vocal duties with Brent Stewart on "Every Man Alone", a soulful shuffler destined to become a prom favorite. Tom Blankenship and Johnny Quaid on bass and guitar.

Jim also plays psychedelic bass and guitar solos on "Glass Window Panes", a sing-along symphony of evil ghosts.

Tom also plays bass and contributes "vocals" on Devourer of Worlds. Johnny plays guitar on another song called Warren of the Snares.

You can buy the disc, or discs, individually so that whatever song an MMJ member plays on can be yours for a lowly $8. I'm pretty sure that all of those songs aren't on the same disc.

The videos, as they're finished and approved, will be posted on the band's Facebook page and website (www.fall2006.com).

Perhaps one day the songs will end up on iTunes, or be available for download. Who knows? There's also podcast in the works.

I have no idea how I know all of this stuff.

BH

I'm enjoying these tremendously!  I was a little overwhelmed at first with so  much music but I'm starting to get some favorites.

Well, I predicted it might happen, and it did.

The entirety of Centennial is now available on iTunes and the podcast is 9 episodes strong, and also available on iTunes. Two of the episodes feature an appearance by Tom and live performances of the two songs he plays on.

Subscribe, download, and enjoy.

I missed this entirely last year.  It appears they've changed their website:

I'm intrigued and may well DL the collection to see me through to Circuital's release...

Oh, and very impressed by your prescient postings, tinynipsy.  Given your immense forecasting powers, do you have any tips for the UK lottery numbers this weekend?  ;)
The trouble with the straight and the narrow is it's so thin, I keep sliding off to the side

100 rock videos for 100 songs?

HA!

Anyway, things are coming along nicely at LDHQ. If you haven't been listening lately, or at all, do some catching up and tell your friends to do the same. They've invited guests to come down and participate but no one, except TB, has taken them up on it. Perhaps if more people listen, more people will be more likely to stop by and it will snowball into a some kind of mythic-looking snowbeast of hi-jinks and intelligent buffoonery.

We, the general public, can only hope.

If you do listen, like I do, I hear it helps if you go the LD iTunes page and add a comment (I'm sure it would help more if the comment was positive).

Regarding the UK Lottery, I missed that one, but I predicted that.
