When they aren't on tour Jim does autograph sessions at Ramada Inn's around the country.  You have to wait in line for like an hour and he won't personalize anything but it's still worth it.

Yeah, I had to sign this form promising to give him my firstborn as his personal slave, and I had to give him two cases of apple butter, a pair of Puny Devil knee-high socks, the door handle to a '84 Plymouth Duster, a lock of Stockard Channing's hair, and five Toblerones.

And seven bucks. Upfront.

But then again, that was during his Motel 8 autograph tour. I hear it's a sweeter deal at the Ramada. ;)

MMJ_fanatic

my bad--I misremembered.  My extra Buddy System poster that all the guys signed for me in their dressing room after the Pearl St (Northampron MA) show has 34 on it--don't know why I thought it was a seven.  Anyway he has definitely stated in the past that it was a number that was "given" to him--nothing more explicit than that .  Sorry everyone its a 4 not a 7
Sittin' here with me and mine.  All wrapped up in a bottle of wine.

JacketGal

I have an autographed poster and it definietly could be either a 4 or a 7....

Here's a close-up:

And here's the whole poster -- which I CHERISH! :D
But seein you feels good, and its always understood.
That anything much sweeter would make me die.

oh man, captain. you do indeed realize he's joking, correct?

if not, he certainly is, and if you wait around the back exit of the venue long enough, they're bound to escape at some point and all of the guys are more than happy to sign whatever and high five you and whatnot.

Hey Captain, I figured you knew that Sweatboard was kidding about the Ramada Inn thing so I was just playing along.
It certainly wasn't my intention to upset you or cause offence, apologies if I did.

Jim seems fun and quirky enough to do a motel autograph tour.  That would be hilarious if he really did that...or maybe grocery store grand openings.  I once met zach from saved by the bell at a k-mart opening...oh, treasures of a lifetime.  ;)

Thats when his career was well over.
Hell, I wouldnt even do that.

Shewt, I was hoping there were an answer or two to the "#37" dealie  :P

I think all these replies are dated '06 though..... 4 years later, is it a well-known tidbit yet? Heh it sparked my curiosity...

Here's a more recent thread I started on the same question.  I believe we moved further from the real answer, which Jim will probably take to his grave.  He is a prankster.

I didn't want to start a new thread, but thought I'd share a find from two nights ago.  I was doing my nightly eBay search for Omnichords and MMJ stuff, bought my fifth Omnichord!, then stumbled upon a poster from Austin '08 for $40, with proceeds benefiting cancer patients in Austin.  Sounds like they signed this for charity.  Its my third item with all five signatures (the others- a two-sided Evil Urges promo poster and a signed Okonokos CD- are also pictured below).
