Just got home from the LA show. Way better than I anticipated. I met my first fellow posters tonight, Ms. Yvon, Ru-Day, My Morning Tube Top, and some others. They rocked very hard for a folkie show. For those of you going to upcoming shows and are not familiar with Anders Parker, be prepared. He is a superstar. He played acoustic and electric guitar, Jim's bass, and drums when Will sang. His voice and his own songs were stellar. The whole band was trading instruments all night, not just in name, but the actual instruments.We were all directly in front of Jim. Some girls just to my right made a stuffed robot with a flying V guitar and put it on the stage for Jim. He took it and hugged it and asked who gave it to him. It turned out they were from my town Camarillo. I wonder if it will become another stage prop for MMJ shows. Jim kept his eyes closed for the entire first set, at least when facing the audience. The setting was all Mayan carvings. Jim made several comments about 12-21-12, he seemed very loose and happy, and was finally looking at the crowd. He rocked on the bass just like an MMJ show, and seemed to be getting in Jay's way a few times. Tomorrow I will be at Amoeba, and take some pics with my real camera.

the Mayan had a particular piece of equipment that the band used.  i'm not one to take pix at shows, but i wanted you all to see this:

val!  really sad that i missed the fillmore show now that i know you were there.  this has been a big year for the east coast contingent showing up on the west coast!   KEEP COMING, ALL!

The Birchmere show has been sold out for weeks and we have only 4 forum members plus guests with exactly one week to go?  Really?
C'mon you lurkers.
Outside doors open at 5 at which time you get your position # and then you can hang out at the bar for an hour and wait for the 6PM opening of the inside doors to get your seats.  So we have a relaxed hour to have a meet-up at the bar.

I'll be there (+1). What time are y'all planning to line up?

I think I met Jane at MSG in December, but not sure if I've met any of the rest of you :)

I'd definitely be up for a pre-show gathering at The Birchmere.  I'm the designated seat snagger for my group, so I'll be there in line before 5 (thinking roughly 3:30) and then hanging out until the venue opens at 6. 

How should we find each other?  Maybe we can exchange cell phone numbers by PM or something.

With work and traffic from Maryland, I'm not sure what time I'll make it.  I like the cell phone number exchange idea.
