I don't go to a lot of festivals and i have two questions.

1)  When do the timeslots usually get released?   2 weeks ahead?   4 weeks?  6?

2)  When festival follow up with "more bands to be announced" are they usually smaller bands or a random sample similar to the 50 that are already announced.

I do go to a lot of festivals and I have two answers.  ;D

1) Totally depends on the festival.  Usually more than 2 weeks ahead, though some (like Coachella) have done it the week of.  I'd say on average about a month in advance.

2) Usually mid-sized to smaller acts with a few bigger ones thrown in.  It's very rare that a headliner-sized band is added after the initial announcement.

Thank you e and A!
I'm digging, digging deep in myself, but who needs a shovel when you have a little boy like mine.

Like I've said before, MMJ would be highly unlikely to play on the bell. In a city where they can sell 15,000+ tickets to a single show, it'd be so unfair to play a 500 person show (if that)

would it be unfair for mmj on the boat for rollcallers only!  Friday night, Roll callers +1 would not be too many.  I mean some could argue that T-5 wasnt fair, valentines day, earx-travaganza, or any other sold out show for that matter.  Hey i can dream can't I?
Y'all got any disco ball back there?

yeah, I'm still holding out hope for Alabama Shakes, J. Roddy, Swearing At Motorists, Dead Confederate and the like.

This fest could definitely use a sprinkle of Da Bidness!
We saw J Roddy at the small Ottobar in Baltimore - were right up front and it was great - a lot of energy.  I did lose a considerable portion of my hearing, however.  As a result I purchased Etymotics to make sure I can still hear MMJ when I'm 90.

I'm not seeing where I can get in line for them there tickets!  Help a sister out!

That being said, I'd previously tried to get a reservation at the Galt House weeks ago directly on the hotel website and was told it was full - but was able to get a reservation just now using the Forecastle link.  Sweet.

The line starts in my family room.  If you can get here quickly you'll have a chance to be second in line. ;)

Which show were you at?  The CD release from 2010, the two nighters last year, or the one night Friday night show last year.

I never thought twice about seeing Tom Petty, but when I finally saw him, it really opened my eyes, then like bold99 said, watching the Petty documentary (one of the best music docs IMO) changed things completely. A Tom Petty show is like a rite of passage, too. The Foo Fighters---a band I'd never seek out, but I know they'll always deliver. Tom Petty is in a whole other league.
Yeah, Running Down a Dream just may be the best rock doc I've seen.  The fact that I spent 8 hours to watch it twice!  I used to see Petty every chance I had in the mid 90's and he just rocked.  I did get bored with him for over a decade after being one of my favorite artists through high school.  I've kinda gone back to him over the last couple of years.  In fact, between the Mudcrutch release, Mojo and Highway Companion, I feel like his recent output has been stellar.

"Down South" has to be one of my favorite road trip songs now.

Mudcrutch is a most excellent release.  Up there with the best in Petty's catalog.

"Down South" and "Big Weekend" are two of my favorite Petty songs.  Highway Companion is such a great album.

^I love Tom Petty but yall should start a different thread about that Gator fan and his greatest hits shows.

For soundcheck it says, "All packages must be picked up at the venue box office on the night of the show." so i'm thinking we can pick up our stuff on Friday. If that is true all i really need is pit and autographs and am willing to give someone my soundcheck pass, just bring clear tape with you if it is a wristband. never been to a sound check but don't want to pull an all nighter for it and be zombie'd for the show.

Edit: looking at the lineup Bassnectar and Sleigh Bells play the same night. I know he has done remixes of some of their stuff so there's a chance they play together...
