Ravenna Colt?! Maybe Quaid will make a guest appearance? That possibility alone might convince me to go...

Anyone know if the headliners play unopposed?  Really hoping to catch Girl Talk and MMJ on Saturday, especially since I don't have to worry about pit access ( thanks Roll Call!!).

Sorry to bump my own question but does anyone know if the headliners play unapposed?

e_wind

Girl talk will play the main stage followed by MMJ.

I can back up Dennie and the Monkey Wrench. He's a good dude, a big fan, and the Monkey Wrench is my favorite bar.

So, The Monkey Wrench is about 3 miles from Galt House- a short drive but not exactly walking distance.  I'm flying in and won't have a car.  Is TARC any good for getting around?  How late will they run?

Shit guys, I saw The Head and The Heart last night... Wow. It wasn't the first time I've seen them, but in the past they were opening acts, and this was the first time I've seen them headline. I absolutely won't be missing them at Forecastle.
First, their intro music was Wordless Chorus... They know how to make a Louisville crowd amped up. Charity said something about how awesome MMJ is and how they gave Louisville a great name. Tons of cheering. The band said on several occasions that this was the best crowd they'd ever played for, and you could see the appreciation on their faces. Non stop big smiles and fun on the stage. All 6 members looks ecstatic. 2/5s of the shows I've seen in my life have been at Headliners and I've only seen a reaction that good from the crowd there one other time... Jim and Patrick in 2010.

I've been wondering of these dudes would be able to keep their momentum after a 365 day success story... They played 3 new songs and they were FANTASTIC. they have a new album in the works, too. They also played every song they have officially released and they were all nuts. I was shocked by how much they made me want to move for almost 2 hours straight. Even the songs that seem mellow on record were awesome.

During the solo vocal parts of Charity's in Rivers and Roads and Winters Song people went nuts cheering her on. Her voice is fantastic, which I know I've said on here many times.

I've been pushing this band hard on this board since I first saw them in late 2010, and last night just confirmed my love. Im not exaggerating when I say that last night wa the best Ive felt leaving a show EVER other than MMJ shows. They're definitely my number one band to pay attention to now. In some years I can see them being my 3rd act to travel anywhere to see along with MMJ and PJ.

In other words, don't miss their forecastle show!

you know i havnt been on a tarc bus since probably high school, so i am no authority.  not even sure where by the galt you could catch it or where by the wrench it would drop you off.  i however, could not imagine it would be too hard of a trip to make.  maybe even without transfers.  otherwise, it would probably only be a $6-$7 (maybe $10) cab ride, which if you split it up a few ways wouldnt be too much more than the bus.

Great stuff, E, thanks! I've only seen them once, their festival set at ACL, which was still unbelievable. Charity's emotion on Rivers and Roads was palpable, she wasn't the only one with tears in her eyes. Cannot wait to see them again in Louisville, I just wish I was able to see a full show like you got. New tunes!  :D

CABS! The Galt will call you a cab and they're cheap. Plus you just call them when you're ready to be picked up. It'll be dirt cheap with all of us staying there.

I'm envisioning a long line of peeps at the hotel cab stand, much like at the airport...no riding in the cargo area, Ruckus! Or was that me?  :-\

Makes sense.  This here NH hick has only been in a cab maybe twice in my 44 years.

No lines. Just call down to the front desk a few min before you're ready to go. I haven't had a car in 10 years, trust me, you're in good hands. WHAT COULD POSSIBLY GO WRONG?  ;) ;D

I hope not. Girl Talk is a miserable highschool dance party with the volume turned up too loud.

however with these pit passes we don't have to be early for GT

well, in 2010 Bassnectar played the main stage followed by Smashing Pumpkins which are basically polar opposites. Unless they add a 2nd big stage thats gonna be the case. In 2010 they had one stage that had all the bigger names (even names like Cake, She and Him, etc...) and then another stage that had bands like Margot and the Nuclear So Sos, Lucero, etc. Then a small electronic stage called the Ocean Stage and and local stage. Id expect that even Dr. Dog and the Head and the heart will be day time on the main stage unless they add some serious bands from now til then.
