Seriously, I order many a book from ye olde amazon; it had to go to the girl who takes it to the police?

OLATHE, KS (KCTV) - Classes started like normal last week at MidAmerica Nazarene University in Olathe but, for one student, a textbook book ordered from a popular website landed her at the police station.
"I was just flipping through the book and it kind of just fell out," said college student Sophia Stockton.  "My little brother was there and he said, 'Wow, that's creepy.'"
That's because a clear plastic bag fell out.

"It was white powder.  It fell out of the page that was talking about them sending bombs through the mail," said Stockton.  "I was a little nervous."
The MidAmerica Nazarene junior took the book and the bag to the Gardner, KS police station after class Monday.
"He put some gloves on and put it in a plastic bag, he took it back to test it and like 10 minutes later he came back and said, 'Did you happen to order some cocaine with your text book?' I was like 'No...,'" said Stockton.
The college student said police told her the bag may have been worth a few hundred dollars.
Stockton ordered the book for class online at Amazon.com.  She said the used Understanding Terrorism: Challenges, Perspectives, and Issues book came entirely wrapped up in the mail, directly from Amazon.
The college junior said she's ordered books online before, but never have any of them come along with this type of bookmark.
"He (the person who previously had the book) did not know it was in there.  I am sure the guy was mad he left it in there, but I am kind of glad it is off the streets," said Stockton.
Gardner police destroyed the cocaine and said there will not be an investigation.
Amazon.com has not responded to a request for a comment.

That's ridiculous. If I found a bag of white powder in a book I wouldn't take it to the police.
That's motherfuckin' John Oates!

I really like the part about the guy who previously owned the book had no idea that was in there. Mr. Innocent, more like Mr. I'm seriously fucked. ;D

HA!!!

At work one of our managers rented a Santa costume and got a similar surprise in the pocket of the jacket.  We all split it in the manager's office. It was hilarious, especially since I was there to play xmas tunes, not brew beer.  Ended up being a great gig, as you might imagine.  :)

I would've done the same thing as the girl in the story.

I'm actually for legalization, but I'm very anti-hard drugs (and drug use in general) and the violence associated with it. It's ironic since I love the Dead, Hendrix and the Allmans and I used to write reviews for Jambands.ca.

Violence mostly stems from prohibition, as you probably realize. I just read an interesting article about the history of the war on drugs.  Has more to do racism, money, and politics, again, as you probably realize.

btw, I love being more open on here now that I'm not a teacher!  :)

Precisely!

Back in the day, my dad had purchased a run down laundromat mainly for the machines.  One day I was working with him and saw a brown paper bag out in the back in some weeds.  I didn't think anything of it.  Turns out, a couple of days later I'm reading the local paper and there is a story of some neighborhood kid finding this paper bag outside of our laundromat and it just happened  to be full of tree and the kid turned it into the police.  >:(   All I could do besides kick myself for not looking in the bag was  :'(...
