Dear MMJ,

Seems Okonokos is getting hard to come by, especially on vinyl.

Box Set idea:

Okonokos LP x 4 repressing (180 g) to include CD version and Bluray version of the film, which also includes Acoustic Chorale.

Sounds reasonable, maybe preorder w/extras for Roll Call?  In time for the holidays?  I'd hate to think we'd have to wait until 2016 for the 10th anniversary...

I think just a blu-ray release would be great with extras. But another vinyl pressing would be great for those who are new to the band or new to vinyl.

Oh, I own them all too, but figured it might be the best way to get a repressing going that would temp someone like us, who own the individual pieces.  Having the bluray available separately, too, would be ideal.  Including AC is a must.

I'm a regular contributor to the My Morning Jacket website fan forum.  Many folks are frustrated that the LP version of Okonokos is nowhere to be found, 'cept for a guy on eBay with 4 copies selling for $100 each and a couple of used copies in Denmark for around $85.  Any chance there are plans for a repressing or some such?  I posted today my pipe dream that Oko be re-released as a deluxe box set, with CD and bluray of the concert video of the same name, to include the LE video "Acoustic Chorale".  Anyway, thanks for listening and if you know of any copies available for under $100, let me know.  I have mine but a few friends asked around, so...

His reply:

Hi John,

Thanks for the inquiry.  We had Okonokos available for six years.  We sold through all of our copies, except a few in our archives, this last fall.  Our license is up on the album.  I sold a few slightly damaged boxes, through our site, recently to die hard fans, and may have another one or two around.  I'm sure there are some stores out there that have a few on hand, as I have seen sales on Soundscan very recently.  So, folks may want to call around and see if they can locate something.

We will soon be out of our colored versions of Acoutica Citsuoca, so if folks want those they may want to jump on them soon, too.

This is why Pearl Jam has such a hard time getting me to buy anything lately.

I didn't realize the boxed Okonokos was hard to come by. I picked it up in Louisville at EarXtacy on the way down to Bonnaroo '09. Worried the whole time it would melt in the car (it didn't).

I have all of the MMJ studio albums on vinyl. Not sure what they could put in a box to tempt me, but it's fun to think about.
