I'd be super into this event but it IS expensive'ish ... I would of done it but my travel companions saved me from myself with a "not in my budget" and its sooooo not in my budget, I just have a bad habit of saying yes anyways, yes they did save me! According to Newport Folk Fest twitter, it sold out hours ago.

I actually really look forward to giving my 10 and 8 year old daughters their first MMJ concert.  They've earned it.  This is perfect, their first Jacket show at Newport.  My mom and sis too.

Our 4 year old knows all the words to Bermuda Highway and Steam Engine, to the point that she called Jim on flubbing a line on a bootleg she heard.  She thinks Black Metal is two songs; when there's a pause, she says "here comes another Black Metal!"  Then the song resumes.  I love it.  "Here comes another Black Metal!"  ;D

I've heard a bit about the Yak-lettes, but can say that the Magheeta-lettes are a great set of kids!

Here is a little more info about the event... doesn't seem to be a link to this from the newport website but if you go straight to http://www.newportfolkfest.net/benefit it works.   Drinks are free, so I will do my best to get my $$ worth.

I'm sure she will since it sounds like her observation skills are spot on.  Good work converting Zach into a full fan after his NYC show.  I'm sure he'll be thanking you.  See you in July.

2 years ago I stayed all the way up in providence at the renaissance. Great hotel and a nice town, but definitely more than a few minutes out of town  :-\

After the shows, any drive "out of town"  will be more like an hour, not a few minutes.  Usually there is heavy duty traffic late.

We've been up there about a dozen times and always stay at various b&b's in town.  Most run from about $250-$300 per night.
