Now this beauty is finally in a frame!:

That's actually one of the few posters I have procured myself rather that through the generous help of wonderful forum peeps.

And the twin Burwells are now in the same style frame and look great.

Looks great Chris!

Curious as to what the measurement is of what's showing on the inner blue matte?  I've kept my 2nd mattes exposed at 1/4 inch on the Burwell's, and 3/8 on the others.  It looks like the blue on yours is similar to the 3/8 but is it more? I like it, and might go bigger on some of mine if that is indeed more than 3/8.

It's actually a full 1/2 in., which I think works well with the larger white border area, the overall size, and it echoes the 1/2 in. black patterned border in the design. Otherwise I think 3/8 would be better with anything this size or smaller.

Yeah, I think you're right. I went 1/4" on my Burwell's because I didn't want to draw away from the print, but now seeing how great the 1/2" works on your poster, I think I'm going to recut my outer mattes back to have a 3/8" reveal on those.

I like the way the blue echoes the 1/2" black on your poster too,  and I have a couple with a similar border. Definitely going to open those up to reveal a 1/2" inner matte. Thanks for the tips, and hope you don't mind me copying some of your ideas.

You bet! Are you talking about the same LA and NYC Burwells from 2011? I would think a pretty thin border like 1/4" would go better with the lines of that design. I went with none, but now I think an inner mat would be good on them too.

I have six Burwell's that I'm doing. The two you mentioned, T5, Pantages, Red Rocks 11, and Boston 11. I kept a 1/4" reveal on the inner mattes on all of them, and like the look but I'm going to cut the outer matte on the Pantages one back to reveal 3/8" and see if I like that better. That was the cheapest outer matte of all of them so if I like the original 1/4" better, it won't set me back too much to go back to it,and get another.

The other posters I'm doing have a 3/8" reveal, and look pretty good. I was leery of going wider on those, but a couple have a similar inner 1/2" border as your RR. I like that balance on yours, and am going to cut one back to 1/2" for now, and see if it looks as good as yours. I think it will because when I'm looking at it the way it is now, something just looks a little off, and now I know what.

I'll post some pics when they're all done. I'm doing 11 posters for now, the six Burwell's, the rest of the T5's, and the Sandy Benefit poster from Asbury. Two more to go, and by the time I'm home they should all have Masterpiece glass in the frames. That's the last step.

Well I cut those outer mattes back, and am really pleased.  The one with a 1/2" inner reveal now looks perfectly balanced, and just that extra 1/8" seems to have added more depth to the look as well.

The Pantages looks much better with a 3/8" inner reveal, as opposed to the 1/4". It doesn't take away from the print at all, as I had originally thought it might. Definitely adds a nice accent, and I'll be doing the same to  the other Burwell's as well.

That's a nice one to have thought Whip, nice matting and placement as well.

We moved to Iowa City in August but I just started hanging posters. My wife got to choose the ones that went up in the living room...

Fully, I lucked out on that Slater print big time!  It showed up on eBay for under $300 framed!  I just happened to be the only one paying attention at the time.

Eric, my girls aren't impressed with the posters.  Michele isn't a fan of Burwell, except for the facing spacemen, and prefers the Wiltern 3-some to the Port Chester trio, which I prefer.  For our most public room, I'll let her choose.  I'm thankful she's willing to let MMJ posters be the centerpiece of the place.  There are still a bunch I haven't unpacked and so many more in portfolios.

Looks like I'll be adding a One Big Holiday print to the collection, thanks to a pair of assholes south of the border!
