I remember reading this in my room before the show Thursday and enjoyed it:

http://blogs.laweekly.com/westcoastsound/2012/09/my_morning_jacket_the_wiltern_september_12_2012.php

At the end of the article it states, "Random Notebook Dump: Shout out to the drunk mom who groped me during "Evil Urges." Appropriate timing." Well, Vespa, I think you have some explainin' to do.  :bath:
One problem with that quote. The writer said he only went to the third show, Evil Urges was night 2. Plus, how can he say the one show he went to must have been better than the two he did not?

Night 2 was really strong in a vacuum but the monstrous nature of 1 & 3 dwarf it in comparison. I walked away from 3 thinking that it may've topped 1, but it's pretty much a toss up between those two. First night just had a straight 90 minute jaw-on-the-ground segment from Lay Low until the encore break that pretty much has no parallel to any other live music experience I've had (Roo '06 show included). Third night had the best opening segment (actually thought both 1 & 2 got off to relatively sluggish starts) and I think without a doubt the best encore with the horns/covers/selections.

Just happy to see the band better than ever! Honestly was cool with MMJ just being a great band that I'd always look forward to seeing, but I never thought they would get back to, or exceed where they were between fall '05 and summer '08! I'm still just a little bit shell-shocked by it all, hope this tour has been as enjoyable for the band as it has been for the fans.

I LOVED night 2 - it was soooo heavy - they really laid it down.  I was talking to a cool guy from Chicago whilst in line on night 3 - and he had the same takeaway.  He said he half expected them to bust out some Slayer or Metallica Master of Puppets they way they were playing night 2.

I told someone in line I was hoping that they cover a random Metallica, Cars,  or Tear For Fears Song!

Unfortunately I ran out of memory, this would have been a great full video, but the beginning of ALL NIght Long is priceless, simply for the couple reaction behind me!      My Morning Jacket All Night Long

I got a finger touch during Touch Me Part 1 and Victory Dance from Jim on Night 3.

But at the end of Night 2 Jim gave me a huge high five right after the closer Mahgeetah.

So I was the only one he touched during the show except Sam during the George Harrison song.
AH MAH GAH!  Going for fingertouching at the Greek.  I've gotten a couple hard core stares and a definite wave.   But never actual physical contact (save for my kick ass avatar, oh yeah.)  I'm ok with my stalkerishness.  Let's just hope that everyone else is.
Mission accomplished!  I got two finger touches at the Greek and lifted my nephews up so they could, too.  We were pretty much the only ones who got it.  Felt pretty good, I have to say.  JJ really knows how to stoke his fans!!
anything + reverb always = better

It was just good to interact with Jim both nights during a show.

I was on the rail for night 2 and night 3, night 2 Sam threw me the Casbah Lyrics Poster and Jim threw me a huge High Five.  Night 3 just took off after Dancefloors and everyone got happy.

Night 2 was still good but it just didn't have the Dance party like night 3 or the Darkness like night 1. More of the rare slower songs and a laid back feel for that night.

Were you the guy on my right that caught the paper airplane that Sam made?  Lucky SOB.

No I got the clean poster with lyrics, I'll post pics later. Maybe the 2nd one Sam Handed out.

I was on the rail the 2nd two nights with the Flask and E Cigs.

Oh, you were next to me on night three.  I was the dude with the long blonde hair.

Sweet. You were a good guy, wondering why you didnt wait to get a poster till after the show since you were on the rail.

Had fun at the show that night, Hope it is at the Wiltern again next year.

Does anyone know about how long last night's Dondante was? The jam they added before it was so heavy.

Yeah it was!  Like a heavy metal jam, just thrashing!  Oh, wait are you talking about the jam near the end of Dondante?  It seemed quite different than the jam in the same spot in Dondante at Red Rocks.  I guess they just make something up there each night?

And gardenparty, I'm with ya on I Will Sing You Songs, that was a major highlight for me, too, its so majestic and triumphant when its peaking, just beautiful, one of my top MMJ songs for sure and it was killer on this night, coming out of War Begun.  So many freakin' highlights as I listen back to the shows or just think about the setlists.  Its overwhelming in the moment, almost hard to take it all in, just too much awesomeness!

Night 3 has been posted to the LMA but the links are dead.  Stay tuned...
The fact that my heart's beating is all the proof you need.

I'm just listening to Night 1 for the first time, Goddamm it sounds good!

I wish I were at home listening at 11 instead of at work listening at 3.   :bath:

Which occurs to me, why don't we have a smiley with headphones?

Does anyone have this as a zip...torrent is going to take me 75 days to download with my slow-ass connection. Thank you to you lovelies who posted this and all of these damn jam shows. You are heroes of the underground.

Did anyone figure out who the horn section was on night 3?

Did anyone post this review of the Wiltern yet (night 3)? This was the kid who was out front when we were in line (all 3 of us); he was so nervous about the interview! He asked me what he should ask them and I told him to find out what Jim says at the end of Steam, but he didn't. Wouldn't have got a straight answer anyway, natch.

He made his way up to us on the rail during the last few songs and was practically blowing a gasket! It was so great to see a newby face melt before my eyes! (He also tried to swipe Patrick's sticks from my new friend Gavin as Patrick was handing them to him, but I shot that down licketdy split - sorry Winnett!)

I don't remember meeting that kid, but he did a pretty good job, I'd say.  Good questions.  Thanks for the link, vespachick!

JY - anything on nights 2 & 3?  Night 1 is killer and I can't wait to hear more.
Give me a butt load of reverb on this one - just pile it on.

Vespa, Bo and Tom answered that in the live chat they did. The transcript was posted on the Old New forum. Unless someone saved it, I'd say that it's gone.
