The bottom line is, SC controls it's own destiny for the time being.  They're sitting 3rd in the nation which ain't too shabby.  If they win out, they'll be playing in the SEC Championship game and right now, that looks like it will be against Alabama.  And the winner of that game will go on to play for the NC.  End of story.

FSU did everyone a HUGE favor in losing over the weekend because they could have thrown a big wrench in things if they finished the season undefeated.

I agree on all points.  The best thing regarding the FSU game was that they beat Clemson, then lost to NC State.  Clemson now has to play NC State.  But as we all know, anything could happen.  It's tough having a target on your head.

And on second thought, Georgia was overrated after their wins over....who??

Exactly!  I kept hearing how good UGA's defense was coming into this game.  Why was that exactly?  I mean, they gave up 44 points to Tennessee?  And that win at Mizzou for the Bulldogs isn't looking as good anymore after the mighty Commodores did it to Mizzou in Columbia as well...

YOu may not have noticed that our starting quarterback went out after the first quarter.   And our back up quarterback SUCKS.    However, if he is back this week, we should only lose by about 21.   If he is not back, and probably won't be, we will lose by 77.    Seriously, if Franklin is not playing, I would put ALL your money on Alabama, no matter what the spread is.
I'm digging, digging deep in myself, but who needs a shovel when you have a little boy like mine.

The Bama Bear

Yeah...Franklin is out. Yikes.

jcoyote, this has to be one of the biggest (if not the biggest) game in SC history Saturday, right? And the line is 2 1/2!

Actually, it opened South Carolina (-4), but is now (-2.5-3.5) range.  LSU gets 3 automatically for playing @ home.  Keep in mind the South Carolina/Georgia came was around SC (+1).  I stand by and will either reap praise or be laughed at next week and declare now that SC can go into Baton Rouge and take care of business.  A one point lead @ 0:00 will make me ecstatic.  LSU simply does not have the talent this year.  Mattheu (sp?) is REALLY being missed.  I do agree this is the biggest game in SC history, as the Florida game next week will as well.  Knowing that the Auburn game last year cost SC the Atlanta bid, no chances will be taken this year.  Spurrier is a better coach than Miles, and w/o talent this year, Spurrier will prevail.  Put that in your signature line and smoke it.

I have to agree with you.  LSU is just not that good this year.  Defensively, they are as good as anyone in the country, but they can't score for shit.  And Florida proved that, if you can run, you can wear down that LSU defense as we saw in the 2nd half of that game in Gainesville.  And if there's one thing SC does well, it's running the football.  And if SC can pitch a shutout (almost) against UGA, good luck on that anemic LSU offense scoring much against that SC defense.

I look for the nation's longest home win streak to come to an end Saturday...

LSU simply does not have the talent this year? Sounds like it isn't the fact SC is so good, more than LSU is down.   :undecided:

It is a combination of both.  A combination the Gamecocks are happy to take advantage of.  Earlier, the spread was LSU by 2.5.  I guess spreads mean something, but they didn't October 6th.  It would be interesting, but not interersting enough for me to search, the last time a visiting team has been favored in Baton Rouge, and if they have ever been favored at night.  I guarantee that hasn't happened in a long time.  Anyway, I found this, which highlights what an earlier poster said about Florida.  Very interesting.

Forde really rubs me the wrong way sometimes.  He lists the pros for ND as being 4 victories over major conference opponents.  Those major conferences???  The B1G and the ACC???  Wow?!  And included in those wins was a win at home vs. Michigan in which they won by a mere 7 points despite Michigan giving them 5 turnovers (2 of which came inside their own 10 yardline)?!

Meanwhile, he goes on to discredit Alabama's convincing win over Michigan because they are a "disappointing team"???

Furthermore, what exactly is disappointing in having 2 losses to 2 top 10 teams again?  Oh, and that disappointing Michigan team was picked by everyone (including Forde on the B1G Network) and their mother to lose at Purdue last weekend and all they did was win 41-13?!  This "disappointing" Michigan team still has a very good shot of playing in the Rose Bowl on New Years Day...

Wow, came back in here to take my punishment about the South Carolina loss, and found there was none.  I guess the majority of people here really don't care for college football.  Anyway, we spent six days out in San Francisco, so didn't take the laptop, and didn't spend much time on the internet on my phone.  Just tried to take everything in.  Ate a couple of clam chowder bread bowls @ Fisherman's Wharf, and tried to find a spare copy of Okonokos vinyl @ Amoeba, which didn't pan out any better than South Carolina going to Baton Rouge on a Saturday night.  Spread was around 2.5, which was very close.  If you would have watched the game w/o knowing the score, it was probably closer to 28-10.  Never underestimate The Hat.  Hopefully this weekend will fare better.  I think/hope Spurrier is playing mind games about Lattimore and Clowney.  If they don't play, it will be devastating.  I'm not making excuses, just stating fact.  Hoping for an injury free game for both teams.

I am a huge college football fan. SC losing at Baton Rogue was nothing to blink at. They couldn't get it done and that didn't surprise me. Your program hasn't risen to the level of true smack, IMO, so sorry to disappoint you if you came here to be "punished". I was actually pulling for you guys but couldn't care less towards the end of the game.

Here's hoping Vanderbilt continues to pile on to Auburn's miserable season.

I'm in no position to give anyone trouble about their college football team.

Bring on the Hoops SEC!

What Tracy said!  I too love college football, but my loyalties are to Michigan.  I was hoping for SC to pull off the upset in Baton Rouge, but I gotta say that I wasn't shocked to see SC underperform in a big road game once again.  That seems to be their MO under Spurrier.  Play like they can't be beaten at home and then lay an egg in a big roadie.  And things won't get any easier for SC as they make the trek to Gainesville this weekend...

As for me, I will hopefully be watching Michigan exacting 4 years of revenge on Little Brother and bringing Paul back to Ann Arbor!!!

I have no problems with those lines Trace.  You know I don't mess with college football but I don't see Miss St.  being able to move the ball all game and Bama getting one or two defensive scores late in the game with the lead.
Bama 38-10

I don't see Notre Dame's D keeping up with the Sooners O with Jones chucking it like he is plus the Norman factor.  This is the Irish's first real test.
31-17 Sooners

Bama will definately win and should cover

ND vs OK is another beast, both not really tested too much, but I don't see ND's defense giving up a ton of points so 11 might be too much of a spread.  I think OK wins because their offense is better and ND doesn't have much of an O, but something tells me it will be close.

I have to say it's great to be a georgia bulldog! I should have gone to the worlds largest outdoor cocktail party this year...so much for that title game gators!

I hope Latimore is ok...that was a nasty hit, you could see his knee hyper-extend, nobody wants to see that happen to an athlete.
