Anyone gonna pony up and pay for the webcast tomorrow? I'm quite tempted. Goes to a great cause and I just KNOW Jack and Neil are gonna play together. That would be worth the price alone.

I think it's only $5!  It's going to be a really special day of music.  Jack White acoustic.  LOVE IT!
anything + reverb always = better

I'm lazy... can someone post a link to the webcast.  Many thanks.
The fact that my heart's beating is all the proof you need.

Well, Fully, are you watching GnR right now?  It's making me feel very confused about this thing called music that I thought I found to be enjoyable.
My heart can't wait to meet you on the other side.

Fully

I actually didn't get to watch any of it. I would have loved to have seen it too, but other things ended up taking precedence over this. Perhaps it will turn up somewhere again...

MrWhippy

GnR was horrid, I thought, but I'm not a fan anyway.  It was fun for the trainwreck factor at least.

Everything else I saw was great, though (started watching at Ray LaMontagne), particularly Jack White, Neil, and Eddie Vedder, who did a couple songs before GnR.
My heart can't wait to meet you on the other side.

I watched most of it.   worth my $5 but barely.   I agree w/ this:

Jim Harrington is right on most of the time.  Not so with this review!  People were into it.  Or maybe I was drunk?  Eddie coming out was absolutely the highlight of the night.  We had been lamenting how Bridge didn't seem like Bridge without Eddie...then POOF!  He appears.   Flaming Lips doing A Day in the Life was awesome.  Jack White was amazing.  And GnR was cool.  I Used to Love Her But I Had to Kill Her!  Made me feel like I was in college all over again!

I wasn't into the lineup so decided against tuning in.  Sorry I missed Eddie..... though I shouldn't be surprised he showed.

Agreed, Zan, I really liked the Flaming Lips set, particularly the cover of A Day in the Life.

Steve Martin's band should be interesting.

I know the Steep Canyon Rangers personally, as they are from the Brevard/Asheville area.  They are an extremely tight band on their own.  No question that their national exposure has benefited from their relationship with Steve Martin, but they are in no way Steve Martin's band.  I guess I'm a bit sensitive to that, but if you have any doubt, check them out live.  They absolutely knock it out, if that is your thing, and if not, you'll still appreciate their ability.  Or, just listen to some of THEIR records, not Rare Bird Alert, per say.  Maybe "Call the Captain" or "The Mountain's Gonna Sing."  On a Steve Martin related video, check out Nicky Sanders' solo on Orange Blossom Special from the July 4th concert from last year.  It is smoking.

I have to echo the love for the Steep Canyon Rangers. One of their a capella numbers, "I Can't Sit Down" sent my jaw to the floor when I heard it. Pitch perfect voices sent from the heavens. Was so glad to see they joined in on the "Rockin' In The Free World" finale on Saturday!

Did anyone see the GNR+Neil collaboration from Sunday? Actually sounds pretty damn good!

I thought the shows were solid with the exception of Sarah McLaughlin.  Guns n Roses ranged from ok to downright horrid.  I literally cringed when they did Welcome to the Jungle because Axl's range is shot.

This is the one year that I wish my seats were not as good as they were (8th row center first night, 4th row center second night) - Nobody needs to see Axl up that close.

I now have a crush on Gary Clark Jr. and Wayne Coyne.

I cringed several times watching Axl.  And this is coming from a big GnR fan.  He just has lost his voice.  And did you also notice he fucked the lyrics up on Jungle? it was just bad.
If you don't know for yourself, how could you ever know for me....

lucylew

Yeah, I did.  I was a big GnR fan back in the day.  This was an embarrassment.  They do have some great songs though.
