Why can I not get a picture to show up for my avatar? I copied a URL from photobucket. Is that no good?

I had to delete the http:// at the beginning because when I copy and paste from photobucket, there is already one included. Also, I had to delete the [IMG] or whatever it is at the end of the URL and stop deleting just before the last leters .jpg. I hope this helps and is not too confusing.
