I'm starting this new thread as I have additional information on hotels.  Pretty much, the 3 hotels that I've contacted have provided me with the same rate - $159 a night.  Now, this information is NOT official, as I'm waiting for confirmation emails / letters.

Option 1 - Boston Marriott Residence Inn in Cambridge - $159 + taxes/night (listed rate is $159 for Dec. 30 and $249 for Dec. 31)

- Includes complimentary internet and buffet breakfast
- Is close to MIT
- Is on the T line, but is a bit of a roundabout way to get there to the Arena (i.e., not direct)
- According to locals, not much in the area.

- Ranked #4 out of 17 hotels in Cambridge on TripAdvisor (overall good reviews) - http://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotels-g60890-Cambridge_Massachusetts-Hotels.html

Option 2 - Courtyard Marriott Boston Copley Square - $159 + taxes/night (listed rate is $159 for Dec. 30 and $299 on Dec. 31)

- Includes internet
- Offers the biggest discount
- Is on the T line (green line, about 8 stops) and 2.2 miles from Agganis
- However, this T line is often packed
- According to Mahg33ta, plenty of shops and restaurants close by
- Close to Boston Common and the harbor for those wishing to see Boston
- Also on the T line to the airport and close to the train station
- Could be a very busy area during the holidays

Ranked 10th out of 74 Boston hotels on TripAdvisor (mostly good reviews with some negatives) - http://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Review-g60745-d313573-Reviews-Courtyard_by_Marriott_Boston_Copley_Square-Boston_Massachusetts.html

Option 3 - Courtyard Marriott Brookline - $159 + taxes / night (listed rates are $169 for Dec. 30 and $209 on Dec. 31)

- Includes internet
- Closest of the three hotels to Agganis - 1 T-stop or a 1-mile walk
- Restaurants and bars are nearby

Ranked #1 out of 3 hotels in Brookline, but overall reviews not as positive as Copley - http://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Review-g60823-d268305-Reviews-Courtyard_by_Marriott_Boston_Brookline-Brookline_Massachusetts.html

DECISION

Please post here on the hotel at which you wish to stay.  I would create a poll if that was an option.

IF YOU'RE INTERESTED

Please post in this thread if you need / are interested in reserving a room in Rye, NY and/or Boston.   Please be as clear as possible when replying, including information such as the number of rooms and people in your party, to make it easier for me.  I realize some people's plans are still quite tentative, and, if so, please indicate this.

For example: "I need 1 room for 2 people in Rye, New York for only 1 night, likely Dec. 29."

"I need 1 room for 4 people in Boston, MA for 2 nights (Dec. 30 & 31), but this is tentative".

Cheers all.

Likely won't be doing the NYE show in Boston now but I do really appreciate all the work and organizing being done. Thanks for all the effort. This is so helpful for people

The Holiday Inn in Brookline is about a half mile from Agganis, easily walkable.  If you don't feel like dealing with the hassle of taking cabs to and from the show I would recommend staying there.  I checked the rate real quick and the lowest was $163 with a few slightly more expensive options.

Thanks.  I also quoted the Brookline Marriott, which is a little less expensive and close by, too.

Also for selfish reasons (and I know others are of the same opinion), I prefer Marriott hotels and wouldn't mind loading up on Marriott points for Newport next year.

Thanks Ben, for all of your legwork on this!  We still have our reservation at the Hyatt, but will probably cancel that, in favor of one of these options.  We would need a room for 12/31 for 2 adults and 1 child.
At this point, if we do any PC shows, we will likely be doing the trek from home.  Thanks again!

I like options 2 and 3 best...mostly, I like wherever most of my homies will be staying.

CHIMMJFAN

Option 3 - Courtyard Marriott Brookline - $159 + taxes / night (listed rates are $169 for Dec. 30 and $209 on Dec. 31)

This would be my choice. It looks as though I will be flying out here solo. My friends are gonna let me know by tomorrow. If I am flying out solo, I would definitely split a room with anyone who is interested, just pm me.

Ideally  Courtyard Marriott Brookline - $159 + taxes / night

I'm kind of looking for Sun Dec 30th - Wed Jan 2nd (4 days 3 nights) ..that same rate all 3 nights would be nice.

Me + 1

Flying out of Milwaukee or Chicago..

Always starting over, but somehow I always know where to begin.

The last two hotels said it wouldn't be a problem to give you the same rate for the 3 nights.

So, it's 159/night =318$ for the 2 nights? Or 159 for night one and 299 for night 2? I'm definitely staying in walking distance regardless of the group decision.
don't rock bottom, just listen just slow down...

johnnYYac

I'm leaning toward the Courtyard Marriott, too.  I'm already booked for the $209 rate, happy to cancel and re-book for $159.  Proximity is key, some food/bev options nearby, etc...
The fact that my heart's beating is all the proof you need.

$159 per night for the group rate or $318 total + taxes.

If we booked separately for the Brookline, the price would be $169 for Dec. 30 and then $209 on New Year's Eve.  Total cost would be $378 for the two nights plus taxes. So, we would save approximately $60 on a 2-night reservation.

If we stay at the Copley, we would save $140.

Angelo

I'm know I'm new here, I hope that's cool with everyone. Right now everything is tentative but my girl and I are definitely interested in 1 room for 2 people in Boston for 2 nights (Dec. 30 & 31). Again, this is tentative.

We have no real hotel preference as long as it's close with a nice restaurant/bar selection.

Thanks!

Northern Neighbour

Angelo, everyone is welcome.

Angelo

Thank you, Northern Neighbour.
