Next South Florida MMJ Show Venue Selection

I know that the forum masses are all abuzz with the current Wiltern shows and the ticket purchasing madness for Port Chester and NYE, so perhaps nobody really cares about the particular topic of which I am about to post.  However, because its something which is personal to me, I'll post it, and could care less who enjoys reading it.

I had been thinking about how neat it was that MMJ was going to be playing at such a small venue in Port Chester, and wishing that they would one day do something like that down here.  Many of us South Floridians (I know there are a couple on the forum) consistently bemoan the fact that bands like MMJ are not appreciated by the folks who live here (who mostly prefer the Ultra Music Festival/electronic dance type music), and consequently bands like MMJ don't play down here too often.  There are also a limited number of appropriate sized venues in Miami/Ft. Lauderdale for a band like MMJ (the Filmore where they played in '08 was decent though).

In thinking about all of this, and while on one of my downtown runs last night I ran past the old Olympia theater (now called the Gusman Center for the Performing Arts).  I always thought that it wasn't in use anymore and never thought much of it. (shows what I know).  Then today I read the attached article (which is worth a gander just for the fantastic pictures) and thought, "WHOA....THIS WOULD BE A GREAT PLACE FOR MMJ TO PLAY!!!"

So really, in sum...this is one fan's plea....to anyone who may be listening (music gods or otherwise)....please find a place for this venue in MMJ's next American tour.

That is all....the article and accompanying pictures are attached

That place is absolutely brilliant, and if MMJ plays there next year, I'll be making my first trip to Miami.
"...it's gonna be great -- I mean me coming back with the band and playing all those hits again"

agreed 100% - saw boca and orlando showa last December.  Went from remotely stranded one night to theme park weirdness the next.

FL deserves better!
What's in here won't disappear

This theater is truly incredible and would be an amazing place for an MMJ concert.  The boys would dig it for sure.
Give me a butt load of reverb on this one - just pile it on.

One last comment.....
Lastly......One of the interesting things (which is not specifically mentioned in the article) is that the ceiling presents a remarkably realistic skyscape, and it can reproduce a full night's sky, from a glorious sunset, to twinkling starlights, and finally at the end of a show, dawn. That's entirely using original 1925 technology.   :cheesy:

that theater bears a striking resemblance to The Palace in Louisville.

He also designed our theater here in Tampa. It's called The Tampa Theater .

I would love to see MMJ play here:
