I'm watching the video for the Weight finale

http://www.nj.com/entertainment/music/index.ssf/2012/10/love_for_levon_levon_helm_trib.html

and at the 3 min mark they all look around like, who's gonna sing the next verse?, and when they miss it, piano saves the day.   Nice solo - to someone there, was that Bo? can't tell from the video.

We thought it was Bo.  Too hard to tell from our vantage point, but sounded like him at the moment, so we were cheering for him!

No offense meant Eric, maybe that was a bit harsh.

I was kinda surprised there wasn't more buzz on this board leading up to tonight.  I understand the excitement and anticipation of the New Years run, and the Obama gig, but man, this one flew under the radar big time.

I have always had a special place in my heart for Levon and The Band.  I feel they have always been extremely underrated.  On top of that, the line-up was busting with talent.

Again, very cool of the boys to be a part of this epic night, really jelous of anyone who was there, it looks to be a super special night on paper.

i'm worse, i live within 5 miles and didn't go! (but i went to the one at the Brooklyn Bowl a few weeks after)..i'm trying to cut back but you're right! no excuse for missing this..
but come on...there's nothing sexy about poop. Nothing.  -bbill

What an amazing night for all who attended and MMJ,  Roger Friggin Waters.  Thanks tdb810 and others for sharing the experience , pics & videos for those of us who couldn't make it .

I had to hold my tongue until today.  Eric Mayers and Carl both told me on Monday
they would play with Roger Waters last night, though I did not know it would be Dixie.

Awesome.  Two of my faves on stage together.

So glad you folks got to see such epicness. Thanks for sharing all the goods. I swear to God, I checked the setlist at 6 a.m. and have been smiling ever since. Roger FUCKING Waters and our boys playing The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down?!!! Where are the headlines spinning rapidly toward the screen?!!! This is bigger news than the Treaty at Appomattox. (Hey-O)

Anyone come across a video of Ophelia? The other two are just amazing.

I'm hearing from friends that were there who weren't MMJ fans going in, that MMJ blew them away! They are now set on catching a live Jacket show......Well duh! What the hell do you think I've been saying for years!

One said "they f*ckin kicked ass"! "Wow".

I'd say they made more than a few new fans last night.

A friend texted me from the show last night and said "I know you're a huge MMJ fan, and I've never seen them before...just wanted you to know that your boys are killing it right now!!"  He then proceeded to remind me about how he's a tough sell and they totally won him over.  Yeah, I think they did the job last night!!

The band definitely won over new fans. I think a lot of that (besides how goddamn amazing they are as a live band) has to do with positioning. Playing after all the legends helps. Being introduced by Larry Campbell as (paraphrased) "one of the best American rock and roll bands" certainly helps and sharing the stage with Roger Waters is a huge boost.

The other thing to keep in mind is a LOT of the performers were older so the energy of MMJ wasn't really prevalent all night. Some of the biggest post-song reactions came from the super high-energy songs from the animated performers. Grace Potter doing "I Shall Be Released" on organs tore the house down, Joe Walsh directed a party by running around stage and signaling people to hit their solo, and My Morning Jacket just took all the love in the room and turned it into loud, high energy, beauty.  There was a definite contrast in the second half of the night which had more oomph!. But they probably made it that way to slowly build to the crescendo of MMJ and Waters.

My one friend who was there last night told me very similar things about the people around him.

I'm more and more thankful for Roll Call presales, cause at this rate we might be in trouble going forward getting sweet tix!

Well, this was obviously an AMAZING event.  Looks like there was lots of video taken so hopefully something will surface outside of YouTube.  Really glad the boys were a part of this and that some forum peeps got to take it in.  Pretty incredible.
Give me a butt load of reverb on this one - just pile it on.
