3 day festival, 2 Stages, no overlap. camping festival, middle of no where, late curfew:
Give the 4 headliners a ton of time, give the other bands day-time fest time slots. I could do 3 days and each band get a ton of time, but that would get exhausting, because I would actually want to watch it all.  It'd be a festival in September. I'm not fucking with that heat - I would like to do it at Wakarusa's site, cause in September it would have cooled down, but you still get to camp in the woods and jump off a waterfall.

This is really unrealistic, BTW:

Friday:
Headliners:
Pearl Jam 11:00 - 2:30
MMJ 8:00 - 11:00 (part of spontaneous curation - i dont wanna waste this shit on VD->ciruital opener)

Late Night:
The Roots 2:30-4:00

From around 3-8
The Head and the Heart ~ 1.5 hours
Floating Action ~ one hour
Chris Cornell (SOLO) ~ 1 hour
Tune Yards ~  45 minutes
Cabin ~ 45 minutes
Houndmouth ~ 45 minutes

Saturday:
Headliners:
Neil Young and Crazy Horse 11:00-2:00
Wilco 8:00-11:00

Late Night
Flaming Lips perform The Soft Bulliten followed by an encore of hits  2:00-4:00

From around 2 - 8
Monsters of Folk ~ 1.5 hours
Dr. Dog ~ 1.5 hours
Jim James ~ 1 hour
Alabama Shakes ~ 1 hour
Wax Fang ~ 45 minutes

IF it was really my dream fest and we could get really unrealistic in here, I would add Sunday like this:

Headliners
Roger Waters Performing The Wall 10:00 - 12:00
Radiohead (performing OK Computer for one set, and then hits for set 2) 7:00 - 10:00

From around 2-7
Deer Tick ~ 1.25 hours
Portugal. The Man ~ 1 hour
Iron and Wine ~ 1 hour
Lucero ~ 1 hour
Carl Broemel ~ 45 minutes

i would spend all the money i have to go to that festival.

having said that,

headliners:
neil young & crazy horse
prince
mmj
some get stoned, some get strange, sooner or later it all gets real.

Ok, so this is fun, I love festivals.  e_wind put together a pretty amazing festival, not much I don't agree with, but we each have our own favorites.  So stealing some of his ideas, here's mine.

4 day festival, Bonnaroo style, but at a different location, middle of nowhere is good, camping of course, maybe somewhere like The Gorge where Sasquatch is held, but not in Washington, beautiful obviously, natural amphitheater-ish, no corporate sponsors pasting their logos and pushing their shit at every turn, probably in the fall.

Two stages, and a 'tent', very little overlap, first set at 11am - early sets 1hr., afternoon sets 1:15hr., early evening sets 1:30hr., headliners 2-2:30hr., late night 2-3hr., should be wrapped up by 5am at the latest.

I reunited some bands (it's my fantasy, but didn't raise anyone from the dead), but tried to keep it in the realm of 'possible'.

It's a dream right?

Thursday:
STAGE 1 -
Real Estate
Beirut
The Avett Bros.
The National
(LN) The Flaming Lips
STAGE 2 -
Sharon Van Etten
The Tallest Man on Earth
Fleet Foxes
Girls
Eric Clapton (playing Cream, Dn'TD, solo, etc.)
TENT -
The xx
M83
Frank Ocean

Friday:
STAGE 1 -
Wild Nothing
Dean Wareham (plays Luna and Galaxie 500)
Broken Social Scene (full band, all female singers)
Belle & Sebastian
(LN) MMJ
STAGE 2 -
Gillian Welch
Sufjan Stevens (plays Illinois +)
Deerhunter
Bon Iver

TENT -

of Montreal
LCD Soundsystem

Saturday:

For the record, I would also attend e_wind's festival.  Next September works for me.  Since PJ is there one night, maybe Eddie could do a solo set the following day.

bbill, I hope you'll be selling single day tickets, because I'd pay and arm and a leg for the first two days, but think I'd be heading out Sunday morning...

I want a wristband for ewind and bbill's festivals too. I'd even camp for ewind's and I hate camping.

I'm an idiot. how do I have JJ and Carl on there and not Eddie. Momentary lapse in reasoning... must edit...

I know that this is far above what most any festival could pull off logestically, but if you take off Radio Head and Roger Waters, this is what an MMJ-curated festival shouldve looked closer to. Make the 3 headliners MMJ, PJ, and NY. make the next big 3 Wilco, F'lips, and the Roots. And there you have the biggest MMJ fans playing music to the biggest MMJ fans. and no band of horses

Lol at Waters playing a festival show.  Seems unlikely, but I'd love it so damn much!  Heck, just make it a band reunion while we are at it!
