Trampled by Turtles is really fun live, I just saw them at an ACL after hours show. My friend knew them from doing a hurricane Katrina relief thing years back that they showed up for. They let us on their bus and we got to hang. The best part for me, was all I did was ask about how playing one show with MMJ was. I did confess, that it's because of MMJ that I even knew about them. I just got a kick out of hanging with a band but only asking them about another band. I got a really awesome story of Jim James from the band as well.

Yeah, I looked them up when I saw them opening for MMJ in Minneapolis and I have not been disappointed in what I've heard.  They've become one of my favorite bands.  Trying to figure out if we can swing a trip up to Ann Arbor to see that show.

Just a note to anyone going to see Carl tonight in Chicago per TBT website:

Hey Friends,

We've experienced a slight travel delay, but fear not, our vehicle is fixed and we're headed your way.  We're just a little behind schedule.

Because of this, we have made some slight adjustments to the schedule for tonight's show.  Doors to the Vic will open at 7:45 pm and Carl Broemel from My Morning Jacket will play at 8:30 pm.  We appreciate everyone's patience and understanding and look forward to a great show!

See you tonight,

TBT

CARRIED AWAY, TONIGHT !?!
HOPE SO!
I hope he plays the whole album. Not a bad song on it. Its like the Beatles had a baby with Brian Wilson (pet sounds era)
SUPER STOKED!!!
Them that don't know him won't like him and them that do, sometimes won't know how to take him

You will almost certainly get Carried Away tonight, both literally and figuratively!

Got to meet Carl last night at The Vic after his set.  Cool guy, had a nice chat about his solo work and the NYE show, got my pic taken with him too.  Told him I was right in front of him on the rail at NYE, watching him try to punch every balloon within reach without missing a beat during OBH...we had a good laugh about that.  He said they had even more balloons to release too but didn't, probably for the better, haha.

I thought his set was great, he's obviously super talented.  Only bad thing was people literally talked through the entire thing, and I really had to concentrate on listening.  Felt kinda bad that they weren't more appreciative, but to each their own I suppose.

Anyways, just had to post this and tell people about it, since none of my friends care, haha.

We care!

There was a lot of talking when I saw him the other day in Tulsa too, but I don't think it was bad as it sounds like it was for you. I got to chat with him a little bit after the show too, super nice guy.

Woo, robb, enjoy!

Very cool!

I can completely agree with the talking during the set. It was interesting, there were a lot of people around me that didn't know who Carl Broemel was. As each song passed I would hear comments like, "Ahh nice he's looping all the sound together", "Man, this song is great, I gotta pick up his album", "I really dig this guy", "He plays slide guitar that's awesome" and when he played "Carried Away" with TBT most around me were going nuts how much they liked it.

I unfortunately wasn't able to chat with Carl after the show or even catch TBT as I had a family emergency but luckily everything turned out being ok.

I do have to say it is always strange seeing Carl up on stage by himself, kinda like I'm looking for the rest of MMJ to pop out, but it was a great short opening set!
