Released 6 years ago today, a great document of a great live band.  If you were one of the lucky ones, you got a copy of the limited-editon DVD "Acoustic Chorale" included.  Our first introduction to Brandon Jones (as A. Man), some fun cameos of the boys in the "audience", and a great companion to the live album of the same name.

Celebrate the 6th birthday of Okonokos tonight by tossing it in the ole DVD player!

We watched Okonokos again last night.  It never fails to amaze me!!!!  Locked In.  Head Banging.  Monster drumming.  Masterful bass.  Guieeetars!!!  So passionate, soulful, sensitive/emotional, exhuberent, joyful!  MMJ are easily the mightiest live rock band of the 2000/2010s, to me, towering like giants above everybody else.  A band this good only comes along once every 10 - 20 years.  Holy shit, I feel lucky to have discovered them while they are still in existence.

Does anyone on the message board appear in the DVD?

Why doesn't MMJ go back to the Fillmore?  SF needs a 3 night run like LA and New York are getting.  The Fillmore is one of the raddest venues in the country, I'm surprised they haven't been back.  Anyone got any ideas why not?

shug, i can't remember his user name but the guy in the audience with Z painted on his face used to post here.  chiefokonoko was at the show but i've not seen him in the crowd.
just a guess, but the fillmore is smaller than the venues mmj has been playing for the last few years.  it would be terrific to see them there again, but it may be too small for them now.

johnny, this thread reminded me that i got to see okonokos in a theatre here in l.a.  what a terrific time that was.  at some point in the film the audience was cheering and rocking out.  bought my copy of the dvd in the lobby after the show.

I love seeing great music films in a theater.  Stop Making Sense, The Wall, Hail Hail Rock n Roll, Live at Pompeii, The Song Remains the Same... amazing, fuzzy experiences.  Would have loved to see Okonokos on the big screen with a crowd, especially for the first time.

Thanks, yvonn.  Yeah, you are right, Fillmore is only 1200 capacity.  Smaller than the Wiltern at 2300.
