Jdbartender:  can I nominate you to call bar taco and ask if they can hold tables starting around 4pm?  We can tell them that we'll be out of there by 7:30 at the latest.

That's not a bad idea... We can start there and if it gets too big, we could always move.

I was thinking 3 p.m. if that works... Do you know if it is within walking distance, and do they have T.V.s for the people that want to watch the KY game?

I seriously looked at doing this (Saturday night, 3.5 hour drive, etc.), but will have to wait until the 30th and 31st to party with you assholes.  Another beautiful roll call, though.

I'm down for meeting up wherever.  We're driving in and I'm planning on bringing some homebrews so I would be game for tailgating as well.  But I know my wife would prefer somewhere warm and indoors as she's not too fond of cold...  :beer:

Hey everyone!

So it looks like we are going to have a great turn out for our pre-game!

We have upwards of 40 confirmations at this point, and more people are sure to trickle in as the event gets closer..

So with that being said, let's nail down a location!

Right now it looks like we are debating between Bar Taco and Buffalo Wild Wings.

I think most people would like to avoid BWW if we can, since it's your typical chain and the food is mediocre at best.  However, it is right down the street and will be able to accommodate a group of our size

So the question is: Who has been to Bar Taco in Port Chester? Is it within walking distance to the venue? Can it handle 40 or so Jacket fans? Do they have T.V.s for those that want to watch the KY game?

If we can do Bar Taco I think most people would prefer it, however I just want to make sure it makes sense for our group.  Any insight is appreciated!

Then once we staple down the venue, I will make some calls to see if there is anything either bar can do to accommodate our party!

Ok guys...  Now that we have 40 people, I think the size of the venue is really going to make a difference.

Unless anyone can verify that they have been to Bar Taco, it's big enough to handle our group, they have T.V.s for those that want to watch the KY game, and that it is within walking distance from the venue - it looks like Buffalo Wild Wings is our best bet.

I am going to call there today to see if there is anyway we can reserve some tables. 

Please speak now if there is another option that accommodates our needs that I should look into.

Count me in as well guys. I ended up getting tix for Thursday night on the floor! I will be there for all three nights! Buffalo Wild Wings looks like the best spot to me. Just a few blocks from the venue. I'll be taking Metro North each day from the city.

UPDATE:

I just contacted BWW, they are going to have the manager get back to me about reserving some tables, but from the sounds of it, it doesn't sound like it is going to be a problem

I also called Bar Taco.   Apparently they are only 2 blocks away, and they claim that they can handle 40 people no problem.  The only issue is, they don't have T.V's.
They occasionally will take out a projector, but the girl on the phone sounded iffy regarding whether or not she would be willing to do that for us,,,

Soooo. How important are the T.Vs?  If they are not that important, Bar Taco could be the better option.

It really doesn't matter one way or the other to me.  BWW is a great place to watch sports, but honestly it can be a little distracting as you have like 10 games on at once so the sound with all of the other people talking can make it difficult if you are just trying to hang out.  The beer selection is decent for a chain resturant, but I wouldn't expect to find many out of the ordinary brews on tap from our experiences with it.

my $.02:

this may sound lame, but I think if you're going to travel and have this out-of-town experience, then go with the local place.  It's probably more authentic, has to be more distinctly Port Chester than BWW since all BWWs are the EXACT same. 

I'm a HUGE sports fan, but can put that aside to have a cooler overall experience and put $ in the small business person's hands.  Plus Bar Taco just looks like a really cool spot.

FINAL UPDATE:

So after much thought, discussion, debate, and consideration: it looks like Bar Taco is going to be the location of our pre-game.

As I posted above, I spoke to the manager yesterday afternoon and she told me that they won't have a problem accommodating a group of our size and that the bar is about 3 city blocks from the venue.

Also, from sounds of it; the food and atmosphere are good, and we will have a better over all experience at Bar Taco than we would at Buffalo Wild Wings.

In the event that Bar Taco gets too packed, we can always pick up shop, grab some 40's, and hang in front of the venue until show time.

So with all that being said, here are the final deetz for the pre-game.  I will also post this information on the first page of the thread.
