I have said this before but I think Pink Floyd's "Fearless" would be perfect for MMJ.  The vocals are perfect for Jim and are suited for heavy reverb, Also, the lyrics are amazing and are once again perfect for Jim.

Pink Floyd Fearless .03 Meddle
Mona Lisa must'a had the highway blues, you can tell by the way she smiles.

my go to answer for this question is Cortez the Killer.
some get stoned, some get strange, sooner or later it all gets real.

Yeah, I think a lot of Pink Floyd songs would  be good as well. Especially for Jim's solo tour. He layers sound so well on that tour.

Many songs from Talking Heads would fall into this category too.

Colfax

LOL!  Dave Letterman's band was playing Cult of Personality last night as they came back fro Jim's performance.

Oh man, I love that song. MMJ would totally own that song, and pretty much anything off of Midnight Vultures.

Colfax

I know they already cover a Velvet Undergound song (o'sweet nothin), but I'd really love to hear MMJ give a try at Sweet Jane off the same album.

But I'd like them to play it the way the Cowboy Junkies did - especially that melodic singing part at the end. I'd love to hear Jim do that.

You Keep Me Hangin' On- Vanilla Fudge
Crimson and Clover- Tommy James & The Shondells
I'd Love To Change The World- Ten Years After
Anything Grateful Dead

Well Use Me was not MMJ, but it involved Jim and Carl! They have already played Crimson and Clover. Bob Weir has joined the boys for some Grateful tunes. I am going to have to make a new list soon!

Thanks for this bump. Sorry I didn't find this and started a new thread on the same topic.

I think we're going to some good Dead covers pop back out in future sets

I hope you don't mind, Colfax, but I "merged" your covers thread with the one you referred to above, which predates yours.  No posts from either thread were lost, but all are now living together here, in peace and harmony.
The fact that my heart's beating is all the proof you need.

Aside from my usual pick of Pink Floyd's "Fearless", I will have to go with Marshall Tucker Bands "Can't You See". I couldn't even imagine Jim/Carl guitar bits or how Jim would sing it. Would be a wild ride though!
