What were your favorite live songs on this tour specifically?  What surprised you the most and what songs had the best new grooves in them? Anything counts!

No order here:

Phone Went West (Super great rendition)
Steam Engine --> Isn't It A Pity (First tour this has been played on?)
Octoplasm
Careless Whisper (Ba-ba-bananas-nanas)
Carried Away (Port Chester )

Opening with The Dark, Into the Woods, Heartbreakin' Man and so on was great too!
I wonder why we listen to poets when nobody gives a fuck

I really fell in love with "Isn't It A Pity" this tour.  Forecastle was amazing with Dean Wareham.  I think I heard somewhere that Jim is producing Dean's solo record, that sounds exciting!!  Jim and George just have really similar hearts, I wish they could do a song together.
There's Still Time.........

For me it was during the 8/11 Milwaukee show in the middle of the set where my world got rocked!

Honest Man --> Strangulation --> Run Through (Full)

Please note that this is after the show was opened with:

Magheetah-->Xmas Curtain-->TWTHS
Mona Lisa must'a had the highway blues, you can tell by the way she smiles.

Northern Neighbour

Master Plan at RR would be near the top of my list.  That was awesome.

Lowdown in PC2 was tremendous.

Then at Merriweather, Cobra-Run Thru-Cobra was outstanding.

Fully

Heartbreakin' Man
Octoplasm
Carried Away from Port Chester was just ..... damn.
Phone from Red Rocks/Alpharetta/The Wiltern/Port Chester/Boston just kept getting better and better.
and the most personal moment was I Will Be There When You Die at Red Rocks - It was spiritual and emotional on a deep level for me.

Murph

I Could Never Take the Place of Your Man in Brooklyn was a nice treat

I'm a real fan of the segues. Seems like the group was really able to find songs that transition really well into one another. This is my list in order.

1) Nashville to Kentucky > Strangulation (PC1)
2) War Begun > I Will Sing You Songs (RR or PC3)
3) Cobra (Pt 1 & Pt. 2) > Run Thru (NYE)
4) Easy Morning Rebel > It's About Twilight Now (Red Rocks 1)
5) Circuital > XMas Curtain (Red Rocks)

War Begun>IWSYS is definitely it.  The fact that this became a combo (2 of my all-time top 5 songs) is just magical.
what Madonna said really helped

I wasn't at Red Rocks, but I have the night one soundboard download and I have to nominate this combo as well!

Lay Low to I Will Sing You Songs Wiltern LA, with a Jim strum solo for 90 seconds or so between songs. No real break. Followed by Masterplan, which was my White Whale, and better than I hoped for.

I bought my sister and her husband tickets for the Milwukee show. He sent me a text in the middle of it saying how amazing they were. He had no idea who they were. My sisters comment after the show was, "I could not understand the lyrics, it seemed to have too much reverb." WTF. Who goes to a rock show to listen to the lyrics?

MrWhippy

Here are my picks from the 10 shows I saw in 2012:

1.  Rollin' Back (Red Rocks 1, Raleigh) - Best. Opener. Ever.

2.  War Begun –> I Will Sing You Songs (Red Rocks 1, Merriweather, PC3) - Awesome new song pairing.  Two great tastes that taste great together.

3.  Phone Went West (Raleigh) - My favorite version of all the great ones this year, due to how Jim sang the "There'll be a knock at your back door" line quietly a few times before going into the jam.  All the other versions he just goes right into the jam.

4.  Isn't it a Pity (Forecastle) - Dean Wareham, bitch!

5.  Cobra 1&2 -> Run Thru -> Cobra 3 (Merriweather) - amazing!

Honorable mentions

It's About Twilight Now - (Red Rocks 1, Raleigh, PC 1)

Honest Man (Red Rocks 2, PC3)

I Think I'm Going to Hell (Merriweather, PC2)

Touch Me Pt. 2 (PC2) - Probably best ever version of this song

Where to Begin (Red Rocks 2, PC3)
My heart can't wait to meet you on the other side.

Regardless of reverb or not, I understand him just fine.  Maybe it is because we know the lyrics though... Haha.  Either way, free MMJ tickets and she complains!? I would be ecstatic.

Gideon at Forecastle had to be my favorite!  Andrew starting the song with his violin and the sound was fantastic, Jim's voice was awesome!!!
