Sat does look not so inviting, but nothing I can do about it now.

Wear boots and dress in all rubber - even if the sun shines all day. Probably ought to bring some baby powder too if you're going to do that.

sat looks even worse as of today.   Hmm.   My strategy of "pack all I need in a tiny bag" isn't looking so good.

I got two free ponchos last weekend during a downpour at the Franklin Main Street Festival. They do advertise a fast food restaurant, but they are compact. Also, "i can bring you ponchos" would fit perfectly as a substitute of "I Will Sing You Songs"

Fully and I will be there, also. (Weather permitting, Fully will be there I should say.)

After all the talk on the Joy Formidable, looking forward to this set.

I saw the Joy Formidable with Mr. and Mrs. GO4IT last week, and they were really good.  It will be a nice bonus to see them again in such a different setting.

I made a bad call and booked a flight home Sunday early enough that I'll have to miss Oberhofer.  I think they'll be great.

The good news is that according to setlist.fm, Band of Horses is basically ignoring Mirage Rock and playing all of their old stuff on this tour.  They play between two and four Mirage Rock songs per night.

I am flying in for this.   It will be good to see you (and others) again

Cool.  Did you hear Deer Tick is going to be in Frederick, MD?

I'd definitely be up for a Forum meet up.  Does anyone want to pick a place/time? I'm very much looking forward to seeing JJ again.

The first band I know I'll be at is 4:30: The Joy Formidable. I don't know because of transportation-location to/from the MARTA, meeting up with Fully, etc when I'll get there. Wanna meet up there? The problem is I'm not sure if we're heaading the Jim show or the J Roddy show (I know! Can't believe I'm posting that.)

Goddam those rainy streets.

headhunter

wishing all of you crazy kids a super-duper time down at shaky knees!

wish i could be playing in the mud w all of you!

was some shakin' and some record playin'

Y'know, I never paid attention to this lineup, as there was no way I'd be going, but this is a phenomenal 2-day affair!  You lucky bastards!  The rain factor does suck, but I understand why Kyle is flying in for it.  I know a lot of folks got sick of Band of Horses, as they opened for MMJ so much last year and we all did multiple shows, but I'd be happy to see them as part of a festival like this.  The headliners are the least interesting part of the lineup though.

Jim, Heartless Bastards, Drive By Truckers, Gary Clark, Dr. Dog, Delta Spirit, Joy Formidable, Kurt Vile, Shovel and Rope... wow!

Have a great time and stay dry!
The fact that my heart's beating is all the proof you need.

Yac is getting me excited, but the forecast is bumming me out.  I heard rain all day/night with a flood warning and 2-3 inches of rain.

We've got a flood warning here in TN from the same system. Drowned rats we'll be.

yeah, I'm pretty bummed too.   Shaky Knees posted "the show goes on rain or shine" on Facebook - but I've heard that before.   See, for ex- Forecastle and Newport last year.   Both said the same thing then ended up still getting screwed up bad because of rain, with cancellations.

I also don't see making the latenight show after standing in heavy rain for 11 hours.

Fully

I'm thinking that late night show will indeed be difficult.

Fully

Ok, after one day of standing in the pouring rain all day, I wimped out and came home. I'm still chilled and miserable, but I did have a great time yesterday. Of course today, the rain has let up quite a bit, but by the time I realized it, I was already 3 hrs into my 4 hour drive home. Jim's show was great, as was Gary Clark, Jr. I wish I saw the entire set of The Joy Formidable, but we left a little early to get a good spot for Lucero who spend a good twenty minutes or more of their slot soundchecking. I thought about going to see J Roddy with some of the others, but decided to stick with scosby and his friend to see Jim again and we were later joined by APR. It didn't disappoint. I've seen Jim and his band play now 4 times on this tour and each time there's been something new and interesting. The band is growing tighter and more comfortable with each other. Jim's sax solo during one of the jams this time was as beautiful as I've heard him play. I would definitely go back and do this festival again. It's small enough that it's very managable. They did a great job of scheduling so there wasn't much conflict, they had great food, and the plus side of the rain was that not as many people were there so it was very easy to get close to the stage.

Side note - I had a friend at Beale Street Music fest while I was at Shaky Knees. We enjoyed comparing what was going on in our individual mud pits. I'm pretty sure that by the time I left, I was walking through a good seven inches of mud. Thank you, boots. The best $20 I've spent in awhile.

Colfax

you are a trooper. That was a sick rainfall on Saturday.

APR

That was by far the longest stretch of time I have ever stayed out in the rain.  It just did not stop and barely let up.

No surprises from Jim's set.  After the album he played The Right Place, Losin Yo Head, Changing World.  During State of the Art, he really belted out "And you pray for good RAAAAIIIIN."  His facial expression was right on.

I got to spend part of the day at the fest today.  The weather was perfect this afternoon, but I think it rained later.  I would definitely go to Shaky Knees again.   It's not too big at all and the lay out is great. Not too crowded either day (they said Sunday sold out) and you can get close to any stage.    Everything was close together and there were minimal lines.

Penny Lane

I admire those of you who stayed the second day. I didn't make it--mostly because I had nothing to wear on my feet and didn't want to go buy another pair of boots...I've never experienced so much non-stop rain. The mud was so deep when I left on Sat night, I didn't even know if my boat shoes would hold. Very sad to have missed the Truckers.

Like Fully said, got to see a bit of The Joy Formidable and Lucero. Skipped Jim's show to see J Roddy and it was terrific---the new songs sound great. Walked over and caught the encore for Jim's show and stood right behind Ben Nichols..(word..).

Nice little festival----just the worst weather. I thought Bonnaroo 2005 was bad, rained on and off for 3 days straight, but at least there were a few hours here or there of let up, this just DID NOT STOP and the temps started to drop. A positive was there was hardly anyone there, nice small crowd.
