I'm not sure if this has been covered before, and if so it has eluded me, but where did the band come up with the name Z for their 4th LP?

This is what I've found on the subject:

"Just one letter not connected to any other letters or vowels at all. I like the shape of it. You can bend it to make a triangle. You can lop off one end to make a 7. I feel like it had a lot going for it. It's also the last letter, the 26th letter in the alphabet, and I wrote all the songs when I was 26."

I feel like I remember seeing an interview with Jim around the time that Z came out where he said that the band, or at least he, was doing lots of psychedelics during the writing/recording of Z.

After you mentioned it, I went back to look. Those moves look joyously uninhibited, and I think I'll leave it at that ;) I'm trying to show restraint here, Penny. I like all the fireworks shooting in this video because it makes them seem so young, but I get annoyed at the voices the way they've been manipulated. Actually, it really freaked me out the first time I watched this video  and I haven't watched it since. I think I may try to re-watch it the next time I've got a few extra minutes. I think maybe I'm old enough to handle it now ;)
