I'm sure you all know Clutch, One of the best bands of the last 20+ years, IMO. Transitioned through multiple musical phases, from metal to stoner rock to blues rock, and always seemed to be doing what I was digging at any given time. They're a band I've listened to since middle school and they have a new record coming out on March 19, Earth Rocker.

Absolutely love this band.  One of my favorites.  Just got my tickets to see them 5/2 at Terminal 5 w/ The Sword & Lionize.  Cannot wait for the show and CANNOT wait for the new album.

I'm going to see them on 4/12.  I've  seem them a bunch of times.   Never disappointed.  They always rock the fuck out.   Looking forward to checking out the new album.

Yeah I've seen them headlining twice but it has been a while.  The last time I saw them they were opening for Motorhead in NYC... hell of a show!

Saw them at Forecastle last year.  There set was during the Wilco set so it was nice and roomy in the pit.  I was a 1 man mosh pit.

Ended up getting tickets for the 4/20 Bmore show and the 5/17 Philly show... couldn't pass up the chance to see the undercard for Philly... even if the venue has the worst sound in town.  Only time I've seen them prior was at the Chameleon Club in Lancaster last April and they were all I anticipated and then some.  Really looking forward to the new album.  There is a pretty good interview posted on youtube by Converse x Decibel... Neil pretty much explains how doesn't take things too seriously.  I'd post the link but can't access here at work.

Are you making the Philly or Bmore show Fiddle?

I was there too, standing on the yellow jackets front center in the pit.  Rarely can a 5'3" 30-something woman have the ability to comfortably rock out at Clutch and that show was awesome.  Also saw them in December at 9:30 Club in DC which was another stellar show.  They never disappoint!

I probably would have made the same choice, too.  Neil > Jeff 365 days a year.

Another song released for streaming... I wish this album came out this Tuesday instead of the next.... I'll be in FL and I'm hoping my neighbors will be kind enough to take my order into their warm dry home....

Earth Rocker has leaked... I streamed it on Youtube... Elina Hekate has it set up to play the album instead of individually... This just makes me look forward to getting my copy after I get back next week!!  Album is great, so far the stand out tracks for me are The Face and The Wolf Man Kindly Requests.  April 20th is gonna be a damn good day...

Outside of increased profits... I will never understand why bands don't include download cards with the vinyl records they sell these days... This is about the only thing I can complain about regarding this release... the music is great.

I think a lot of this has to do with the label as I know all of my Relapse label vinyl never comes with a download card.  I think that in this day and age you should be a free online copy if you buy the vinyl because its really simple to do.

Oh well, I got a copy off of Amazon anyway...

QuoteMaryland rockers CLUTCH have been forced to postpone the September tour dates of the "Earth Rocker" North American Tour. This is due to a health issue with singer Neil Fallon. Most of the shows will be rescheduled and dates are listed below. Support on the rescheduled shows will remain the same and come from The Sword and Crobot. Tickets that were already purchased for the dates in September will be honored for the rescheduled dates in January. Unfortunately one of the shows could not be rescheduled and has been cancelled. This is show is Vienna, WV on 9/21. The show scheduled for Long Island, NY on 9/27 will be rescheduled for a later date, please hold on to your tickets. Refunds for the West Virginia are available at point of purchase. The band will still be playing "The Shindig" festival on September 14 on as scheduled and planned. The Hampton Beach, NH date originally in September is now scheduled for October 25.  Unfortunately The Sword and Crobot will not be appearing on this new date in Hampton Beach, NH.  News about support will be released in the coming weeks.

CLUTCH frontman Neil Fallon gave an update on his condition:

"Dear friends, this week I've learned that a childhood injury to the neck, a genetic predisposition for spinal disease, and 20 some years of head banging will exact a toll. I've been diagnosed with an ugly case of cervical spinal stenosis and two herniated discs.

In some instances these conditions can be treated non-surgically. This is not the case for me. I have been advised by several neurosurgeons that my spinal cord has already been damaged and that I risk further damage were I not to address the situation. For this reason, I've decided to take care of this ASAP. Believe me, re scheduling a tour turns my stomach, but I believe this is the wisest choice given the prognosis.

On Tuesday I will undergo surgery. The procedure will fuse three vertebrae together with a small titanium plate. I have faith that this surgery will go as well as it can, and that I will be back in the saddle for our October-November tour. On behalf of my spine, deepest apologies to those who had been looking forward to seeing CLUTCH over the next two weeks. We'll make it up to you."

Health and Happiness,

Neil
